  • Question Regarding Interference

    Hi Everyone

I have attached a picture of my setup. I purchased a used X2 to teach golf lessons with. As you can see I have plenty of space, however I am having a few issues. I have good reads on approximately 7 out of 10 shots, maybe 6. I get a lot of estimated spin numbers. I am using new flightscope dots on the golf balls, and I have tried using two dots.

I do have florescent lights in the room which I have read is not good. I have tested hitting with some of the lights on, all of the lights on, and all of the lights off and found very little difference. I will be having the florescent lights replaced with LCD however not for a bit. Would having these lights turned off take care of the florescent issue?

I also have radiator heat behind my net. Would this cause interference? If so, is there a way to remedy?

Lastly, there is a steel door that is out of sight approximately half way to the net, on the right wall. It is pretty far from the mat we use. Would that cause interference? If so, is there is a way to fix without replacing door?

I tried downloading the environmental test however every time I try to open the program I receive an execution error(VCRUNTIME140). If anyone has a link to the program I could try to re install it I would appreciate it.

Thank you for any input / advice you may have.

    Just a couple of thoughts:

    1. I would call Flightscope and get them
to do a remote session with you as I suspect they can tell a lot. By the looks of your set up, I would estimate you have about 15 feet of ball flight which should be more than sufficient.

    2. The radiator could be an issue. I found years ago that metal behind the screen really impacted ability to read shots and this could be causing a bit too much reflection on the radar. What some have done is cover items like this with a mesh material (screen door type material) and have had success. This is something that Flightscope could discuss with you further.

    3. I would definitely keep this lights above your net off. I hear what you are saying re it does not make a difference, and suspect if you keep the others on, then this could also be an issue.

    4. If using 2 dots, are you sure that the two dots are side by side and facing towards the screen?

not sure if any of this will help, but am hoping that one of threes may help (in particular a remote session to see better what is going on as you seem to have plenty of room).

I appreciate your input. Size is no issue, I have can go 15 feet to mat (I have experimented with 10 and 12 feet) and 14 - 16 feet of flight

      1. purchased the unit from a golf course not Flightscope, do you think they would still be willing to do a remote call? I had thought about calling them but wasn't sure as I had not paid them directly.

      2. I will definitely go pick up some screening and give this a try. I have also read in past that could potentially help. The radiator is my biggest worry as its not something I can replace. I could potentially flip the room 180 and have the nets on a Wall without the radiator and then the radiator would be being the unit. This is my last resort before selling the unit.

      3. I will keep the lights off. This room has lights on the walls as well that are not florescent so I can turn those on if I need light.

      4. Yes, I make a snowman or figure 8 and place the dots towards the screen.

Thank you for taking the time to respond!

I think you may need to pay their transfer fee in order to get them to do a remote session, but think it would be worth a try in any event as they should still be willing to support the unit and help you out.

Space for you is not the issue.

One thing I recall is that they did prefer that the Mevo+ to not sit directly against the wall and preferred it sit away from the wall. Given how much room you have, pulling it from the wall a little might be worth a try as well.

I am assuming the spin estimates are usually only on driver. Also, is it just your shots that have the issue, or are you seeing it with your lower swing speed clients as well

I have it sitting a few feet away from the wall.

I am having issues with all swing speeds, less issues with higher club speeds. With slower swing speeds I've noticed it only reads maybe 50% of shots, not ideal.

I will give flightscope a call tomorrow and see what they can do.
