Take it outdoor and set in to indoor and hit a shot. You will see a message poping up that the flight length is longer than 35 yards and the unit has to be set in outdoor settings.

For instance at this years PGA event in Scottsdale they had a TM set-up that estimate where the ball would land after about 3 seconds and they were able to pinpoint the landing spot very well ( not sure how much time they needed to measure the flight to be comfortable in making the estimate and then calculate and show he result, but I think they showed where the ball would land in about three seconds). Thus, they likely don't need to see much in terms of ball flight in order to complete their normalization calculations.
TM told the users on a user conference that they use multiple units which are networked together to provide the correct data. One reason is that after the last shot golfers start walking and the most backward unit is blocked by them

PS And about the normalization routine : Each ball behaves differently in terms of spin decay and spin-axis stability. One of my first questions was before buying a TM was if that data was present in the calculations, so picking an other ball would show an other flight pattern. The answer was no. So the question is what ball behavior is programmed for the normalization routine and how does it differ from the real ball.

PSS Yes they pickup the ball during the full trajectory, there is little doubt about that, real questions is what can they still really measure after x yards of ball flight.

Maybe an idea to move some of these postings to a radar unit thread? It's starting to pollute this Xi+ thread with general radar based lm information...
