  • Replacing the Mevo+ battery

My Mevo+ won't power on and I'm out of warranty. I had been having issues with it measuring spin (I was seeing all calculated spin) and was working with support trying to figure out what was going on. Then.. it just wouldn't power on. FS told me to "find the correct battery and replace myself. it's easy and like $10." I was also told these batteries only last about a year which seems nuts. Has anyone done this?

Yes, I popped one open when I was having issues. You just need to peel the red rubber trim on the SIDE of the unit. Make sure you don't take it all off, or it could be difficult to get it back on. I don't recall what side the battery was on, so you'll have to peel a side up and "peak" before pulling too much of it off...

Good luck! Worst case the rubber trim will just be difficult to get back to how it fits when it ships...

Thanks! I was able to pull the battery but the same one on Amazon costs $75. Which battery did you buy?

I had to replace my battery as well as it stopped charging. I bought a replacement directly from Nitecore.
At NITECORE Store, we retail and wholesale all Nitecore Products, including flashlights, headlamps, power banks, batteries, chargers and more, with fast shipping, expert advice and warranty service.

Also, attached is the PDF that Flightscope sent me to remove the battery when they were troubleshooting my issue.

I bought mine straight from them too. How long did it take to ship?

Hi, after one year of usage almost always plugged on an external battery pack that doesn’t deliver more than 2.4A, my Mevo+ battery has an autonomy inferior to 30 minutes and starts disconnecting wifi or not reading the shots before being fully discharged.
i ordered a new battery and I saw that the recommandation for charging is 2A max 1A advised. FlightScope has told to everybody to use 2.1A and not higher than 2.4A power supply.
Is there an issue here when using and charging at the same time (meaning more than 2A is drained and loaded) that could explain why my internal Mevo battery lost its autonomy so fast ?
do you have good practices ?

How do you replace the red rubber? I accidentally pulled it all off and struggling to get it back on. Do you have to just stuff it back in or can you take off the top/bottom to slide it back in?

I hinged the back side of the red rubber tab in on one side and took a small pocket screwdriver and gently worked in the other side. It’s tedious and time consuming but the rubber is pretty durable and I don’t think I pierced it. I didn’t apply any lubricate to the rubber for fear of getting it on the circuit board or internals.

Hey guys - just had this happen. Going to attempt replacing it. But wondering, given the 2023 version has a 3 hour battery, is there any way to replace the battery with a higher capacity one? I'm guessing I should just go with the standard one but wanted to ask.

As long as the voltage output is the same and just increase the mAh you should be ok. Honestly I would replace with the same battery and just get an approved battery bank. You will get a much more time out of each charge and session. It’s a raspberry pie circuit board and they are very sensitive to changes in voltage and amperage. It’s the same issue where people have problems using unapproved charging blocks.

It already comes with a high capacity reputable brand Nitecore 3500mAh 18650 battery.
Can't get much higher capacity than that really without going to fake capacity batteries.

However, there are higher quality / specialized batteries for colder climates if you think you need that:

                Hi everyone,

just following up on this thread. Has anyone replaced the battery to have it only still blink red upon replacement? That’s where I’m at and the battery slowly does while it’s off….

                Thanks!

Sounds like your charging adapter might be an issue.

Hi all, I recently ordered the NL1836HP 3600mAh 8A but received the NL1840HP 4000mAh 10A instead. Will this be suitable?

Late reply, but yes, it's perfectry fine as it's still the same 3.6v 18650 battery just with ~15% higher capacity.
