  • TGC Flightscope interface not finding Mevo+ after adding ethernet cable

I've been running my simulator relatively issue free using 2 USB Wifi adapters, 1 for internet and other for Mevo+. A couple times though, the Mevo stops reading (radar ready red LED turns to green I believe) partway through a TGC 2019 round when I have other people playing. Thinking maybe that was due to Wifi internet dropping out, I ran an ethernet cable to the computer. I tested internet by removing the Wifi adapters and the cable is working fine.

However, no matter what combination I try, TGC interface doesn't find the Mevo with the ethernet plugged in. Windows can still connect just fine to the Mevo using either of the Wifi adapters, it's TGC interface that doesn't see the Mevo. I've tried each adapter individually and in different USB ports, restarting the computer and Mevo each time I try something new. The only way the interface finds the Mevo is if I remove the ethernet cable and just use the 2 Wifi adapters.

Does anyone have any idea on what is happening and how I can get Mevo to work with an ethernet internet connection? Any help or thoughts are appreciated.

That's weird as I have no issues with my laptop connected via its ethernet port to my router (for internet access), while I connect my Mevo+ using laptop's built-in WiFi NIC. (Windows 10 with default network settings really. No trickery involved.)

Maybe your ethernet LAN IP address or gateway address somehow conflicts with the Mevo+ IP address? (most commonly your ethernet IP address should be had from the same DHCP server (your router / access point) as your WiFi, but never know)

While you are connected to Ethernet (for internet) and WiFi to Mevo+, try running ipconfig in the command prompt and see if the WiFi connection sees the correct IP address for your Mevo+ , and that the IP addresses on the Ethernet NIC isn't the same / similar. (and compare it to what it shows while connected to 2 Wifi adapters)

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into that tonight when I can tinker around some more.

Make sure only one interface has a gateway ipAddress.

          I ran ipconfig twice:
Ethernet and Mevo connected to Wifi1. Mevo doesn't connect to Interface
Mevo connected to Wifi1 and internet connected to Wifi2. Ethernet not connected. Mevo is able to connect to Interface.

I don't 100% understand what all these items mean but seems like everything is fine? The IPv6 and IPv4 addresses of ethernet, Wifi internet, and Mevo are all different. Subnet mask is the same for everything on both runs. Gateway is the same for ethernet and Wifi internet, Mevo doesn't have a gateway listed on either run. The only difference in the Mevo data is the number after the % sign in the IPv6 address changed from 21 to 22.

The only thing I wanted to make sure is that your local IP address (the one connected to internet via Ethernet port) does not conflict (i.e. have same IP address, or same subnet) as your Mevo+ IP address. If they the have no similarities (except maybe 192 at the beginning), then you can rule my suspicion out I guess.

What happens if you just connect the Mevo+ to the Wifi1, with no other connection for the internet? Does TGC inerface work? If it does, then after TGC interface connects, try plugging in the Ethernet to see if that keeps it working.

Also, do you have any VPN software or Anti-virus or Firewall software running? If so, try it with them being stopped / disconnected / disabled. As they could mess with certain software connecting to certain itnerfaces or connections.

But yeah, just to add, I have also had times where Mevo+ suddenly stops reading my shots in TGC 2019. I found that it happened when battery was getting low even though it wasn't dead yet. So from now on, I connect a power bank whenever the battery level drops below half or so. Since then, I've never had an issue. Not sure why, but I'll take it. lol

Tried plugging the ethernet in when the interface was already connected to Mevo. It resulted in the interface locking up and closing when I clicked on an action button such as camera calibration or starting TGC.

Tried disabling all firewall and virus protection (built in Windows stuff) and same result.

Thanks for the suggestions and info aussie. Since you had the same issue using ethernet, I'll stop trying to get the ethernet to work and try other things.

FYI, I have been using a power pack and that issue still pops up so I don't think it's a low battery thing. Last time it happened was about an hour into a session so the power pack was ~50-75% charged and Mevo was 100%. For a point of reference, I'd say this disconnect issue pops up maybe 20% of the time when golfing a whole round. So not terribly often but enough to be annoying.

When you have Ethernet plugged in, do you manually force Windows to connect to the memo wifi? I find that I have to do that, even though I have “connect automatically” selected. I suspect Windows doesn’t bother connecting if it’s already got a usable network or something

Yes, I manually connected Mevo to the wifi adapter, that part worked just fine. It's just the TGC interface can't find the Mevo for some reason when configured like that.

I have the same issue as you are having and not sure how ethernet will help. Get on tee and take swing and notice mevo is not tracking. I hit windows key and disconnect mevo from tgc software then press connect again and go back into tgc and it still is not working. The software is not frozen at all it just stops talking with the mevo. Disconnect from software again and open fs skills or any other app and connect to that software and the mevo is working perfect in their software. Something in the software is not triggering the mevo to turn on the radar at times. I know if say I leave tgc in target mode and forget and take a shot it says ball launched instead of ready for swing. When this happens I have to exit out of the match. I wonder if there is something similar going on with the radar not activating.

I'm having the same exact issue. FS Golf (running on Windows 11 subsystem for Android) sees the Mevo+ fine over wifi when Ethernet is not connected. As soon as I enable Ethernet, FS Golf app loses connection to the Mevo+. Has anybody found a solution?
