This is probably a way out in left field question, but does anyone know of any open source golf sims out there?
With the talk around the Mevo+ Pro Package and people saying that some golf sim software measures and displays data that FS Golf or E6 Connect don't display, I was wondering a few questions around this:
1) Does open source sim software even exist?
2) Would open source (or privately developed) software have access to all of the raw data coming out of the Mevo+?
3) Is there a Flightscope API that is required for accessing the data (and I presume this would be licensed by Flightscope if so?)
Basically I'm newer to this game and fiddling around with my Mevo+ has me wondering questions like this. I get it that the software development is a huge chunk of the development cost, and hence why it's (moderately) reasonable to charge $1000 for a software update to provided added functionality. This also comes into play with the difference between the Bushnell Golf Launch Pro ($3,000 which provides virtually zero functionality and data display), and the GC3 ($10k+?). The software upgrade packages for the GC3 are on the order of $800/year, which if you're able to directly measure club head data similar to a GC Quad may not be that bad a deal.
But I mean, if the raw data coming out of these simulators is available to a PC connected to them, then in theory it may be possible for a team of open source software developers to build these advanced functionalities into their software.
