  • FS Golf vs E6

Went for an outdoor session today and noticed this.

-Start of Range session FS Golf at least 5-10 yards short of normal distances
-Switched to E6 and climbed up to Driver and the Driver readings are flat wrong, was smoking Drivers and they were barely going 265-270 carry, normal for me is 280-285
    - Switched back to FS Golf and got accurate readings 275-285
-Worked back down to 6i in FS golf and got normal readings

I suppose my conclusion could be E6 seems be off on the longer clubs, while FS golf could be off on the shorter irons

Any thoughts? Anyone else notice this? Anyone use one program vs the other more for pure range sessions?

Are you comparing same conditions (elevation, wind, temp) in both apps and only looking at carry distances? Just wondering if the turf conditions or wind in E6 might be interacting with the real weather outdoors and robbing you.

I've only used E6 range once or twice. Noticed irons weren't as far, and would not show correct shot shape. Was outdoor, draw showed straight push. Stopped using E6 after that.

Agree with bubbtubbs, have a look at those settings.

Same conditions on both, and yes looking at only carry distances. Wind is a non factor as the ranges are set to no wind.. Elevation also a non factor because Im already near sea level. Temp, Im not sure where this is a factor on the sims, especially if I was swapping between both every 5-7 shots or so.

Have you guys hit anywhere but indoors with your Mevo+?

No. All of the ranges around here use one piece balls and the data isn't any better than using dotted V1s indoors, let alone RCT.

I do enjoy having the capability to use the monitor outdoors if we rent a vacation property that has no appropriate indoor space but part of the appeal of having a sim is never having to leave climate control except for real rounds.

I have used my Mevo+ only indoors for about 9 months. My setup is within specs. If I recall, it's 7.5' monitor to ball, 13' ball to screen.

First of all, I don't get anything close to realistic results with my Driver in either software, so I don't bother practicing with anything more than 3H in the sim. I have a nominal driver total distance @260 per tracking with Garmin S20 (~20 rounds, uphill/downhill/no hill), and the sim is reporting @210-220 consistently. I haven't been motivated yet to see what's behind this, but playing the E6 courses isn't realistic until then. I do like practicing approaches and letting E6 auto putt for me.
I primarily wanted the sim to work on my iron ball striking, and it has been a tremendous aid for me. For the first time I have been able to have more then a basic estimate when standing over the ball in my iron distances, which has made it possible to be mentally committed to the strike.

This past season I used the FS Golf range almost exclusively because I'm not that interested in "playing golf" with the launch monitor.
Using the FS Golf data, I have tuned my irons with loft and lie bending to achieve even gaps right @ 10yds. That's been a fun process.

Last month I started using E6 to play par 3's and practice some longer approach shots, and to keep things simple I just warmed up on the E6 range as well.

I too have noticed differences between the FS Golf and E6 results. Carry distance only, FS Golf iron range distances are 5-10 yards less than E6. I have the E6 set to my elevation of 500ft above sea level, but according to information I've tried to find. that is not enough elevation to be significant.

Naturally I hope the E6 is right ;-)

I'll see which is more accurate in about 2 months.
