Mevo plus 0.20 firmware - distances low on E6 since update

Hi all. The 0.20 firmware for the Mevo+ (Jan 26) created some issues with distance calculation being super low. Flightscope seemed to have fixed it in the FS Golf app updated on Feb 1st, but when I try on E6 Connect to play a course the same shot is going about 60-90yards less distance. Is this a known issue and is there going to be an update of E6 to fix this? Anyone else experiencing it? Using Ios version that comes with the Mevo+.

I have data comparison between camera based launch monitor and Mevo+ with .2 firmware. I was trying to look for outliers in data to figure out why Mevo+ is eratic. I set weather to "Standard Sea Level" and followed all setup guidelines for Mevo+ placement. I have 8Ft from Mevo+ to ball and 13ft to screen, hitting "Short Indoor" setting. My data confirms that Mevo+ does compute carry lower in all shots but also I have found a problem with Spin RPM. One shot was 2x spin rate higher and caused carry to be more than 16 yards shorter. I would still like to go back to .19 and confirm its accuracy vs .2.

Great work SPApex. I assume you compared to the Uneekor Eye XO. If you can do it can you show spin axis comparison on various shot shapes including baby draw/fade, hook/slice. I agree it would be nice to see firmware .19

I used E6 Connect last night and noticed distances back to normal. E6 Connect was version 1.10.1.3 last night. Previous round, when distances were short, was 1.10.0.0.

My distances are still out of whack. Mine are on the high side, a stock 9 iron for me is 155 carry. Right now, they are flying about 190-200 yards. The ball also seems to be coming out on a much lower trajectory.

Any word on *** is going on?

My FS App has remained flawless throughout all of the updates & upgrades to Mevo + Pro Package.

I always thought E6 connect was pretty accurate before all of this, ever since updating of E6 & Mevo + I've magically gained a *** load of carry.

E6 Connect yardage is too strong by about 20%, please fix. FS App is still perfect.

I've asked Flightscope to roll back my unit to Firmware 0.18 since that was the most stable...no sense is continuing playing on firmware that you no longer trust...its almost like every improvement they make or add, something gets taken away....firmware versions 0.19 and 0.20 have issues with spin axis and AoA that is causing a lot of incorrect shots (0 side spin / 0 spin axis / -- AoA)
I will report back on Monday when hopefully this gets resolved

I was also enquiring about firmware rollback. Please report back if FS rolled yours back and if your Mevo+ performance improved. I have inconsistent carry/spin since I upgraded.

E6 update 1.10.2 on Feb 12 2022 - says "fixed shots going too far" - yet to test it but its getting there.

Has anybody been testing the Flightscope app outdoors since .20 and noticed a distance discrepancy?

I can't use my unit at all at the moment since it's been below -15C for a week.

I will be this coming week. Traveling for work and the city has an indoor range. I’ll let you guys know. Any ideas on what you would like to see? Problem for me is I don’t use my mevo during Winter. So maybe I’m not the best person to cover this issue?

Since the .20 update my yardages have been going crazy far. 8-iron going 180+ yards when it should be 155. But, the driver and fairway woods are finally on point. Before the update, anything that should have a carry distance over 200 yards would barely register. Driver on a normal day carries 250 but on mevo+ it has never carried more than 220. That is since I bought it back in July of 21. But now the irons are way off. Only other bad thing has been a lot of worm burners that are clearly not supposed to be. The mevo+ is reading a topped or thin shot but it’s definitely not. Could be kinda frustrating if playing in a match or tourney.

Another update on short carry on FS Golf.

Flightscope Support has kindly informed me that Rory McIlroy carries his PW 132m, just so that I'm aware. Thanks for that....

I've sent back data from my Mevo+ end of 2021 that shows average 136m carry, and data from last week since upgrading to 0.20 firmware and Pro Package showing 120m carry. Notably, club head speed and ball speed are down and spin is much higher.

So far, there's been no willingness to offer a solution or to acknowledge that since the update I am experiencing lower carry distances.

Update after latest app updates. From gap wedge to 6 iron everything is pretty good - E6 and FS apps both showing distances I believe. 4 irons and woods still low - getting a driver going more than 200yards is difficult. I am short indoor with about 10ft to hitting screen, so perhaps its just too short for the sensors to really pick it up? A bit frustrating as I like the portability of the Mevo+ but wondering if I should have bought something else at this stage.

Recived this yesterday from FS. Looks like the 15 degree tilt is false.

We do not recommend the tilt being on 15 degrees. Either 12 or 18 degrees.

There also should not be a valley between your mevo+ and the hitting area, it should be a flat surface.

Final update here from me, and maybe a bit of humble pie.....

As part of a club fitting service I had last year I could go back to the fitter for a dial in/gapping session right through the bag. Full Trackman setup, premium ball (ProV1x), best club fitter in town. I did that today. Then I came straight home and setup my Mevo+ and went through the bag again. There was an update to the FS Golf app when I opened it, so using latest version (which is very, very good btw).

Trackman vs Mevo+ (nb: this was not a side by side comparison where the same shots were measured by both devices. I know this isn't perfect. I did try to smooth the data set by excluding obvious outliers from both Trackman and Mevo+, the full sends and the shorter mishits, so I think this is pretty fair).

Few remarks to round this out:

- Flightscope Support was extremely unhelpful. At no stage did they even acknowledge the significant difference in carry distance between firmware versions 0.19 and 0.20, 136m vs 120m with a PW. They offered no help to resolve the data inconsistencies.
- This experience now suggests that firmware 0.19 was very inaccurate. I based all my carries, and therefore got the errors, on data from October 2021. My carries using 0.19 have been overinflated since I bought the Mevo+ but they were always consistent and so I believed them to be correct. Now 0.20 is a considerable improvement when compared to today's Trackman data.
- I have made conscious swing changes in the last 6 months. I don't believe these swing changes have caused a 15m carry loss with PW. My swing is still my swing, but I have to acknowledge it has changed at least a fraction from October.
- I've left some blanks in my data for Mevo+ Outdoor and I'll do that another day to compare to Indoor mode. It was too windy today and my SW was only carrying 75m into the wind.
- I'm now super impressed with the Mevo+. Head to head with Trackman it's right there.

Will be very interesting to take this to the course!

I have had nearly the same experience as you from when I started using the unit about 2-3 weeks ago. I was about to send it back to FS for testing but took it to my local golf galaxy first. I took images of Trackman to do a complete comparison like you did but with just PW, 7i, and 4i.

With M+ and Trackman side by side, the numbers were darn close, very much like yours. I most definitely carry the ball further than displayed but have deduced it shows short from the calculation of my data (high spin rate, AOA, etc).

For me, their customer service was pretty helpful. With that said, I did get a link that showed a YouTube review of how close the numbers were to Trackman. Hahaha! I called the gentleman back and said nicely, "just because someone else's unit is working fine doesn't mean mine is." He agreed and then asked me to send the unit in for testing.

I now have some specific things in my swing to improve on to bring the "numbers" up.
