    Suggestions for putting?

    Hey guys,

First post on the forum. Purchased the Mevo+ a few months ago and upgraded to the pro package last week. Currently using TG2019, the new data parameters are great, but still really disappointed in the putting, was hoping to see some improvements there. I’ve played around on the FS interface with different fast putting thresholds, different green speeds on TGC, and still getting very high ball speed and open/closed faces on long putts. I’d say 50% of putts outside 40 feet are noticeable miss reads.

I feel my setup is decent enough, putting turf covers the entire ground and I have a hitting mat insert so it’s flat from monitor to screen. Good lighting as well.

I was able to get my hands on the RCT golf balls as well, assume the recommendation is to not putt with those balls? But not sure.

    Any suggestions? Greatly appreciated.

Others have much more experience than I but I'll give you my $0.02. I spent most of a full day experimenting with different tilts, and distances from the Mevo+. For me, putting was MUCH more accurate when I putted from about 3' from the unit and I used a tilt of 7 degrees (yes 7). I hit my full shots from 7 feet but still at 7 degrees tilt. I also find that making sure the roll is exactly 0 degrees makes a difference. Finally, I have my Mevo+ centered on the right edge of my hitting mat and left edge of my putting mat. Very important everything is level also. I still have some trouble reading really fast putts but by setting the stimp setting at 8, there are very few putts I have to hit that hard. I use regular ProV1 balls without dots. Your mileage may vary.

Just an FYI. Flightscope just replaced my unit because there was a major problem with the hardware that did not allow for chipping and putting. My new unit is night and day different. It actually picks up shorty chips and putts. I am very impressed.

I assume that's why you couldn't do any shorties before when we were fresh testing 0.20?

Exactly bubbtubbs. I thought it was just me or my setup. I had Flightscope support do some tests and they immediately asked me to send the unit back for repair. They ended up replacing the unit. If anyone is getting big time issues with chipping and putting, I would recommend calling Flightscope support for testing over the phone using the FS app.

Anything over 30 feet on TGC 2019 I chip. Simple as that. The Mevo+ is great at picking up putting inside 25 feet, but longer putts just don't register well, so I chip instead. Or... I just change the settings in TGC to "distance" and select 2 putts for 12 yards and 1 putt for 3 yards. This works great for me as well and is what I use for when I have guests over. If you are on the green and over 36 feet away you just chip it and try to get it within 9 feet for the 1 putt. The downside for this setting is you can't compete in TGC tours events... I've played so much with the settings that I think I've settled on just not putting for the most part. Less frustration and more enjoyable rounds. Chipping for me reads great, but maybe I'll call FS and see if they can get some metrics on my unit before I totally give up.
