  • Low yardages on a portable net with the driving range app

    I have a mevo+.
when I have my full setup going, with the impact screen and nets, all yardages seem accurate.
but I don’t want to set up the entire thing, all the time, so sometimes I just setup a portable net and hit into that in the garage, with the driving range app.
the device, ball, net, are set in the same place I have the full setup at, but when I’m using just the stand alone net, and the yardages seem really off.
could the open net or white door behind it be affecting the radar?

Attached are the pics of the setup and two screen shots that don’t seem to add up..

pics were to large so here is a link it the files..

    tks

My yardages are around 20% low even after I upgraded to the pro package last night. I contacted FS early last week and they had me hit some balls to collect data remotely but haven't heard anything back. TGC 2019 is probably 10-15% low, but I can adjust that in the setup if needed.

Here is a screen shot of a 4i that I just hit ok (using Memu Android emulator on gaming desktop). Carry should have been a minimum of 195yds by the way I hit it as 4i normally flies 205-210yds when hit on the screws. I haven't been able to get anything above 180yrs carry unless I try to draw one hard. Driver is off the same ratio as well.

I installed the FS "noise" application to see if there was anything creating an issue and nothing showed up. I was expecting to have something, but there wasn't anything popping up at all. If you swing a club or move around some metal objects in front of the unit then it will register.

I just finished my build about 10 days ago and disappointed thus far with the accuracy of the Mevo+.

I am having the same low distance issue since the last update. I can no longer hit a driver longer than 200 yds. I usually hit 230-240. I changed the tilt to the recommended 15 degrees and I also have a massive slice in 2019 and hit it straight in FS app. Both 2019 and FS app distance is off.

How did you use the FS "noise" application. Is that a feature in the FS golf app somewhere?

Not to say you aren’t getting misreads, but the smash factor on that shot is very low. That’s a major mishit. With your swing speed and a solid smash factor of 1.48+ 205 carry is very likely though. Do you have any swings with higher smash factor?

What are you hitting into? an impact screen.
usually when i have my full simm setup the yardages are within an acceptable range.
but in the real world when i hit my 3W clean it will be a 230-250 shot.
into the net just seems low.
im gonna setup everything this weekend and see if i can replicate the results..

I am having same issue with Mevo +. I have impact screen with projector. I noticed club head speed was about the same, but yardages didn't make sense based on that. Was going to call support as well. I am using short indoor mode.

I just called into FS again. They had me take pics of my setup and said they would get back to me today. I'll update when I know more.

I just received an email back from FS and they said everything looked fine with my unit or I was on range ball mode. I wasn't on range ball mode (never have been) and using brand new Bridgestone B330S with dots facing forward. The unit is not right, period. I had a buddy come over last night to compare and his was low by the same factor.

FS was going to have me send in my unit to be tested but before I did that, I took it to my local Golf Galaxy for comparison against Trackman. The numbers were pretty darn close. The issue with shorter yardages seems to be the combination of calculations like higher spin rate, steeper AOA, etc.

I'm glad the unit is fine and every time I called into customer service they were willing to help. It also gives me specific things to work on for improvement as I can back a ball up on a parking lot.

                  i have been playing around.
been trying things on both the driving range on the mevo app, which is on the ipad, and the driving range, on TGC2019.
with nothing changing, screen, ball position, device.
the TGC driving range seems more accurate.
i dont like the interface but the feedback seems better..

There are many things I find wrong with the mevo plus on short indoor mode but ball speed is not one of them. In order to fly the ball 205 with a four iron your ball speed will need to be around 135 with a reasonable launch. Your launch is fine but your ball speed is 118. You likely think you hit it a lot further then you actually do or this was a much worse strike than you believed it to be.

Same issue here - short distances. Try using Range ball mode with FS App - seems about right for me when I choose that. E6 is way low now (after being way high a couple of weeks ago on a previous release). Verified swing on a Trackman outdoors so I know how long Im hitting it in real life - now if only the Mevo and apps will catch up again.

Have you tested the Mevo+ against another launch monitor in your own space?
