  • Mevo+ missing features and wish list

    Hi all,

I’ve had my mevo+ since the beginning of the year, added the pro package, and have had my sim room setup and locked in for a couple weeks now. I’ve mostly enjoyed the unit and I’m impressed with the functionality and accuracy, but I have a couple beefs. Maybe someone here has some answers!

Where is augmented reality compatibility? Compatibility for mevo+ was announced over a year ago, and the press release is still up on the flightscope site. I agree with the sentiments in some other threads here that this compatibility isn’t necessarily useful, just kind of a cool feature, but why not? A similar complaint is lack of compatibility with the flightscope VX app and Video app. Why prevent mevo+ users from accessing these apps? We all know the answer is greed, but I think very few recreational launch monitor users (as in non-pro users like teaches and fitters) are ever going to upgrade to an x3 or trackman level device to play e6 with their buddies in the garage.

One of the most annoying things I experience when I use the FS golf app is the weather settings. Can someone explain which of the weather parameters effect ball flight and reported data? Temperature, humidity, and elevation all effect ball flight in real life, but do all three of these have an effect on the data I’m seeing? The annoying part is the app constantly needing to update the weather and then needing to set it manually when it can’t update. My iPad doesn’t have a SIM card for cellular data so it’s not updating when I’m hitting balls. I don’t understand the point of constantly pulling weather data when I’m indoors practicing. Why does the app want to show that it’s 26°F outside when I’m practicing indoors? Does that temperature parameter have an effect on the data? When I’m hitting balls indoors in the middle of January I’m not practicing to play golf in sub freezing temperatures, I’m practicing for summer golf. And the sea level setting isn’t useful either. I’m not at sea level. 700’ of elevation has an effect on carry. What if I live in Denver at 5280’ (lived there for 20 year and still play golf there at least once a year)? Why can’t we set these parameters and lock them in? I’ve tried turning off the automatic update setting for the weather and it turns itself back on. WHY?

Last one is about data margins. I love the potential for this feature but it’s really clunky. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I’ve set a bunch of data margins and I’d like to be able to switch between them when I’m practicing but that doesn’t seem possible. As an example, I have a data margins set called ‘DRAW’. If my club path, FTP, and FTT are in the correct range for hitting a draw I get green lights. I’ve done the same for hitting fades. Why can’t I switch between these settings from the session? I have to end the session and back out all the way into the settings to turn them on and off. Why not be able to assign a data margins package to a certain club? Driver would be a good example. AoA should be a positive value and low point should be a negative value, representing an ascending blow on the golf ball. Should be opposite for an iron shot. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to set that for all your clubs.

would it be worth my time to bring up these suggestions with the flightscope tech team? Are they responsive? What’s the best way to go about this, the form that’s in the app?

Ok that’s enough complaining for one day, time to go hit some shots!

There is no need to end the session to change the data margins.
Just select the setting (cog) during the session and then select data margins. Then you can select a new set of data margins and return to the session.

Thanks for replying. I’ve definitely tried this! When I enter the menu during a session I can toggle data margins on and off, and when they’re on I can click the ‘data margin settings >’ which brings up a new screen that will allow me to create new data margins, but it does not show the data margins I’ve already created. Same with clicking the settings ‘cog’ when I’m in session. When I click the data margins tab from that menu I have the same opportunity to create new, but none of my already created data margins are available. The only opportunity I have to select a data margin is to do so before I start a session.

Is this not how it works for the rest of you? Should I request support?!

      Thanks

Data margins are working fine for my unit as described by Mirek. They are saved from previous settings. Important to note that the data margins save only for the session type you choose ie full swing, chipping, etc. I’m not sure if they also change for different radar modes like short indoor or outdoor but it may be worth checking.

Could it be that I need to create the data margins while I’m in a session? I created a few just by going into the settings but not during a session. Maybe I’ll try it.

I checked today and it works as I wrote.
Check to see if you have data margin sets saved even if you don't have a unit connected.
If not, then create and save them, then you will be able to select them during the session.

I was able try creating a data margin setting while I was in a session. It worked. I can now switch between data margins while I’m in a session. So I guess I don’t know what the point of creating data margins from settings is. Kind of annoying that the margins I created while I was not already in a session are useless and need to be recreated. The important thing here is that the margins need to be associated with a session type, which makes sense.

thanks for helping me solve this one!

Now back to Missing Features and Wish List...

I won't call anything a missing feature, but I do have a few items for the Wish List:

        1. Voice command -- if there was ever a family of applications that could benefit from voice comands, it's golf launch monitors/simulations, where the user is always some distance from the controls.

        2. Ability to see all measurements on the screen at the same time. Many owners of Mevo+ and similar hardware also utilize a projector.

        3. An power adjustment that lets us dial up/down the Carry numbers based on our knowledge of our usual distances. I rarely play any of the golf simulations because it's no fun whenI know my Driver carries further than the readings being shown. Not blaming Mevo+, there are environment variables and Indoor Swing Syndrome that also impact the numbers. Please, let me dial it up to 110%, or even 200% if I feel like being Bryson for a day.

        4. May not happen anytime soon, but would love Open Source software, especially when many LMs have an Arduino or Raspberry Pi inside the box.

        5. Automatic, full screen video replay delayed by x seconds when using video recording features. Auto Slo-mo too would really be awesome. And, am option to select how many times each clip replays so you can observe different aspects of your swing.

Would love to hear other ideas too.
