  • Setting up new unit

    Hi Team,

My Mevo Plus comes today. I'm pretty excited. I have a question on the set up. Looking at my outdoor net and canopy build that I made from PVC pipe it seems the Mevo might be an inch to inch and a half over the hitting surface as I have a golf mat on the ground, and mevo will go on some pavers behind the mat. I see lots of posts where you can correct if the Mevo is below the ball, but what about if it's a touch above it? I can move the rig, but I don't have much level surface anywhere in my yard.

hopefully a tarp works with the unit, needed something for my wedges as they were flying over the net at 13 feet. Looking at the tutorials online it seems you have to line the ball up precisely for accurate results. With my Matt the T area is off to the side of the wedge area. Will a few inches off center plane effect the flight path a lot? I'm not looking for perfection, just close enough to make work on my swing plane and slice.

Lastly - I don't have any phone service here and need wifi to connect with the world. If the Mevo uses Wifi on my phone, I don't think I'll be able to download any firmware updates. hopefully I can bluetooth connect to it for any downloads.

Mevo+ doesn't have Bluetooth. You'll have to download the firmware updates over your wireless connection then connect to the Mevo+ to install them.

As far as I'm aware, you're not supposed to have the launch monitor higher than the tee area because it'll mess with the angle of attack readings and possibly the shot detection window. That's the official stance from Flightscope but I haven't tried it personally. From the photo, it looks like you can move your cage setup forward a few feet and put the Mevo on the ground instead of the interlock.

You get a target alignment function within the app that will help you align the unit. Just use an alignment rod or mark the net/tarp you’re hitting into and align the unit to it. It will
compensate for small ball hitting positions left or right of the target line. You will notice in the app that the ball registers a start line slightly off center if you are not dead perfect with the target line. It’s still pretty accurate +/- a couple inches either way. It also gives you a little read square in the target alignment function to know what the limits are for ball position.

So far it seems pretty reasonable. Irons feel short based on the clubs that I usually hit on the course. however, now and then with a perfect ball strike I'm getting correct yardages so it's likely my inability to hit cleanly off the mat. Looking forward to playing around with it more later on the e6 app. Wish it was inside so I didn't have to drag a TV outside each time, but it beats having to pick up the phone after each hit to look.
