    Flightscope and Wedges

    Hi,

I bought a Flightscope Xi a couple of weeks ago for backyard practice. However, I noticed that it doesn't read wedge shots properly. In theory,
it is supposed to display Smash factor for which club data (at least speed) is required. I get a Smash factor reading in about 25% of all shots.
Anyone any ideas? One of the Andrew Rice videos on wedges mentions that TrackMan may have problems with wedge data, too. But it
does not elaborate. Maybe a technology issue?

It is difficult for the radar to get head measurements for wedges, PW not bad nut SW and ls much more problematic. This can be lessened by hitting the ball at about 9 feet from the unit and for a righty having the ball more on the left side of the hitting area that is suggested for radar to ensure the radar does not have the body of the player getting in the way. Following these tips has allowed me to pick up more club head reads, but I note that I still get shots where club data is not presented (ball data is though).
