So I've had my Mevo+ for over two years and love playing TGC 2019, but putting has always killed me. When I play with friends or a local match I set the green speed / firmness to slow / soft, but every TGC online society / event has moderate green speeds and putting just becomes a terrible thing. Specifically those 6 - 7 foot putts where my turf speed / environment don't mesh well. Seems like the shortest I can hit a putt that Mevo will pick up is like 10 feet with moderate settings.. Well, this is a major drawback when you have a downhill 6 foot putt in a TGC tournament and blow by the hole 25 feet. The good news is I've finally found the fix: Adjust your TGC Settings File Green Stimp.
Green Stimp=4
Green Firmness=1
Green Speed=3
Previously my Green Stimp was set to 8 and was simply unplayable in TGC 2019 for the Mevo+. Green Stimp=4 is probably a bit slow, but I'll take that knowing I can hit say a 10 foot put that the Mevo+ will pick up that will go 6 - 8 feet in the game. With these settings I can now hit a 3 foot putt which is sometimes needed given downhill putts in tournaments.
Second tip is don't putt outside of 30 feet.. I chip everything outside of 30 feet in TGC 2019. I find Mevo+ does a terrible job with putting outside of 30 feet and it's just easier to hit a chip.
So if you are just getting into TGC tournaments and struggling with putting, try adjusting the TGC Settings file and messing with the Green Stimp and Green Speed to dial in the best settings for your environment. In my case I have some slower turf that was causing the Mevo+ to read all my putts as long in the game and causing me issues with the really short putts in the sub 10 foot range. Now that I've made the adjustments I can finally make the short putts without feeling like if I miss I will have a 20 foot putt on the way back.
My advice would be to figure out what the shortest distance your Mevo+ can pick up and mess with the stimp settings to dial in what you want that number to be. For me I needed to be able to hit 3 foot putts to feel better about playing TGC tournaments. My Mevo+ would not pick up an actual 3 foot putt in my environment, so I end up hitting the ball about 6 feet to register a 3 foot putt in game, but this is preferable for in game purposes. Wish the unit could actually pick up delicate putts of 3 - 5 feet, but just not possible with radar based units.
