  • Fusion and Advanced fusion Flightscope

This is more of a summary for any new sim folks that are looking at a Flightscope Mevo plus or X3. Please add to it if I missed anything.

Just wanted to note the differences between fusion and advanced fusion tracking technology for Flightscope. Fusion tracking combines the 3d doppler and camera image processing to enhance ball and club tracking. It is a free update that helps with short chips, putting etc. They recently have introduced advanced fusion technology which uses the radar and camera to determine the face impact location. This will likely be used to help refine the spin axis due to gear effect. Obviously it's nice to have this data. Trackman does the same thing called Optical enhanced radar tracking (OERT). The fusion and enhanced fusion are firmware updates free of charge to Mevo plus and X3 units. You can actually turn enhanced fusion off in the Flightscope app.

Mevo plus has paid add on features for club data (Pro package) as well as Face Inpact location. The face impact location does require extra light to work but once setup, it is very accurate.

Yeah. I was a little confused too at first when trying the PC version and having this zoomed in and washed out view when looking at radar camera tile.
I quickly realised that the only way to do face impact with any precision that they had to use advanced configuration modes hacks to force the basic camera they use, to increase the capture frame rate. I had research how people had figure out a way to do this a while back on those raspberry pie camera modules.. so I knew they'd eventually use it.
Only problem with this "hack" is that it forces a low resolution and makes exposure a lot more difficult and thus why they are running into lighting issues now..
I have sufficient lighting in my garage but apparently not for advanced mode so I'll turn it off I guess... I can't justify paying that much for face impact feature anyways. Especially to be a beta tester..
I'll consider it once it falls in price and gets more mature maybe.
But I like that they allow us to toggle off that feature at least.
But they could do a better job of clarifying all those changes and telling users about this..
via Documentation and/or youtube videos.. and I mean a proper video doc. not some long webinar...
Seems there's a disconnect between Marketing and Engineering divs..
But I'm cheering for FS nonetheless as they are much more user friendly than the alternatives.

        Long live the Mevo+

Agree with cheering for FS with the mevo+ and with documentation on operation and different features being extremely lacking.
      Working...
