I am new to the Mevo+ and wondered why they have removed "Short Indoor Mode". Will this negatively impact the data/numbers? Have any long time users seen a difference in the data? My Setup is total of 18 feet from MEVO+ to the impact screen. While I received a unit from Flightscope it came without the charging block and cable so I have to wait couple more days before they will arrive. I did a very quick test(since unit has some charge from factory) and my 9 Iron was avg 15 yards less than on course history via Arccos caddie.
Mevo+ recent update-Removed Short Indoor Mode- Will this negatively impact the data?

I agree makes less confusing indoor vs outdoor but didn't they have indoor (13ft or longer ball flight) (short indoor - 8-13 ft of flight) and then outdoor?
My assumption (which could have been wrong) that they differentiated the "indoor" and "short indoor" by having some calculation adjustments. looks like those two are combined into the "limited flight" category (whether indoor or outdoor). So what did they change in calculations?

I would imagine they can calculate the distance after the first shot. They know the ball speed and the time it traveled until stopping. After the first shot it should be adjusted correctly. My assumption (which could have been wrong) that they differentiated the "indoor" and "short indoor" by having some calculation adjustments. looks like those two are combined into the "limited flight" category (whether indoor or outdoor). Just remember Arrcos is providing you the total distance and not a carry number. It's best to compare your carry number indoors versus outdoors or versus another launch monitor. No matter what system you use they all have different algorithms to predict total distance including rollout.I did a very quick test(since unit has some charge from factory) and my 9 Iron was avg 15 yards less than on course history via Arccos caddie.- What ball did you use?
- If not an RCT Ball did you use a metallic sticker?
- Were any of the data tiles in italics?
- Are you on the latest Firmware and Software? DO NOT UPDATE unless you have the charger. If the unit dies while updating it will be bricked and useless requiring it to be shipped back to Flightscope.
- Can you post the data from your shots you think were shorter than average?

i Did use metal sticker on brand new prov1 ball. Is there a preferred placement of the sticker. In bare area or best above the titleist name? I did it in an open area if the ball.
After I receive my charging block and usb cable and have a bit more time on simulator I will provide some more data.
I was curious to get feedback from long term users at short indoor distance of min 16 ft to 18 ft (unit to screen) whether they noticed any difference in data with the most recent update.
Since every environment is different It would be awesome if someone with good experience with their mevo+ and space would do a test at various lengths and publish the change in numbers as you go from 8 ft to screen to 10 ft to screen 12 feet to screen and 14 ft to screen. Obviously we are not robots and hits vary swing by swing but averages would provide some expectations about quality at distances.
But I know that’s a lot of work.

Dot placement anywhere on the ball is fine just make sure the dot is pointing forwards. I had success with it pointing up to try and make the balls last longer by not striking them in the same exact place over and over. I didn’t see any major changes on average data but I would advise forward if you had issues.
Any extra flight distance to the screen will give you more benefit up to diminishing returns. I would say the sweet spot is around 12-13ft. Equally as important is the “clean environment” for radar capture. Any kind of rotating mass in view of the radar i.e. fans, refrigerators, washing machines, florescent lighting will cause noise. Remember, radar can see through certain densities so even if those are on the other side of a wall it may in fact cause a noisy environment.Last edited by preludesam; 02-28-2023, 12:33 AM.

Just an FYI - I have an update from flightscope regarding the tilt readings.
Per flightscope today 3/1/23
With our latest firmware updates, the fusion tracking on the Mevo+ will not be able to get a proper picture of the ball if the tilt is outside the recommend settings. The FS Golf app will not allow you to hit shots if the tilt degree reading is showing red. You must adjust the tilt on the unit so that it is between 11° and 13° degrees for the app to allow you to hit a shot.
The tilt reading comes from a device on the internal board in the Mevo+ that tells the unit it's orientation actively so that it can interpret the collected data properly. If a shot leaves the ground at a 20° launch angle, this will not be seen differently by the Mevo+ If you change the tilt angle because the unit is actively getting it's orientation from the internal accelerometer.
So bottom line is you cannot "Experiment with other Till angles". This is true for FS Golf, FS skills and E6.
