  • Flightscope set up and yardage short. Please help!

I’ve had a flightscope for a few months and can’t get the set up dialed in. Everything is consistently short and gets worse as you go up in club. I’ll include picture of screen shot with a 7 iron.

I hit my 7 iron 190 yards, but consistently get readings of 160. Please let me know if there is anything in my set up that is affecting yardage. I understand that I could be over estimate my carry distance, but this is a big difference and it just doesn’t seem to add up.

Here is my set up. Flightscope is 8 ft from the ball. I’ve tried 9 foot without much difference. Ball flight is about 12 ft. I’m set on short indoor. I try to put the tracking line straight through the ball and to the white vertical line.

What elevation do you normally golf at? It will make a difference although I am not sure it will make 30 yards of difference. You can set the elevation in FSGolf to match your location’s elevation.

If you are set to short indoor mode I don’t think your unit and or app are up to date. Short indoor does not exist any longer. There are only 2 options now, limited flight and outdoor. In your case you should be in limited flight mode. I will also add that the longer ball flight distance the better and as always a metal dot on the ball. Good luck working out your situation.

I’m in Phoenix / Scottsdale Arizona. Looks like 1,220-2,200 elevation.

Definitely need to set your elevation as 2,000 feet is going to be quite different than sea level. Also you’re getting estimated spin shown by the italicized spin number. Make sure you are on the latest firmware and since you chose a normal ball you should be using a metallic dot facing towards the target. You could also get some RCT balls and not have to worry about the dot just make sure you choose an RCT ball in settings if using one.

Thanks for your suggestions. I’ll try these out in the next few days and report back.

those numbers look realistic to me. check out trackman pga pro numbers with 7 iron: 90 mph club speed, 120 ball speed is 172 yds carry. not far off from your results. biggest difference is VLA. Click image for larger version

I was noticing that half of my backspin numbers were estimated even though I'm using a metalic dot on my ball.
Everything that was not in italic was showing backspin numbers in the 5500-6000 backspin but all the ones that are in italic are showing 7K+ in backspin.
Pretty annoying that 90% of my shot data is not usable.

I've had the Mevo+ since April 2021 and the yardages have always been short from day one using metallic dots.
8 feet from ball, 12 degree, aligned perfectly, using metallic dot, 12 feet ball flight, etc....

My PW on course is 130 yards, in sim using FS GOLF app, I can barely break 115 swinging out of my shoes.
Like you said, the longer the club the worse it gets. On course 7i is 170yards, Mevo+ can barely break 140-145 (maybe 150), but a 20-30 yard difference is huge.
56 degree is the only club that is read properly on course and in sim.
                It's really really annoying.

Support hasn't been a bit choppy. I emailed them but had to talk to live chat to get any response, to which they wanted raw data sent through the app.
I sent them raw data, emailed them I sent it, no response for over a week. Sent a follow up email only for them to respond that the data is accurate and there is no issue with my unit.

The only thing I can trust is the direction off the club and the shot shape.
I don't even look at carry distance any more, just smash factor and lateral distance.

Through my own experience, months ago I was able to hit 170-180 yards with 7i using e6 connect, but more recently e6 is similar to the FS golf app.

The main reason I am still using it is because there are no subscriptions besides the new add-ons (which I'll never buy because accuracy is cannot be trusted).
Trajectory / Shot shape is decent enough to where it reflects on course shots.
I really like the swing video recording feature and it cost so much to let it sit unused.

And when comparing to the pga track man averages, I am swinging well over LPGA but getting shorter distances than them with the same club. It's kind of ridiculous.

The only thing left for me to do is bring it to a simulator place and setup my mevo+ to compare data, but that's 1 hour for $52 to tell me what I already know. Not really worth it.

If you want to post some data of your experience we can dive into it. Without the data and maybe some on course statics it’s really hard to judge any results anything other than anecdotal.

I’m having similar issues with the Mevo+ I got last week. Setup is in a basement room with a high enough ceiling for an unrestricted swing. 8 feet behind the mevo, 8.5 - 9 feet before you get to the net.

For most sessions, the mevo is reading way short. I was on a trackman for a lesson last week & had my 7i right around 170yds (avg). On the mevo+, I’m usually closer to 150, if that.

But to add to the weirdness, I had one random session last night where the mevo+ started giving me the numbers I was seeing on the trackman.

Pics of the data for the unicorn session and for a typical session attached. These two sessions were about 15 minutes apart & I wasn’t doing anything different with my swing, as far as I know.

                    any thoughts/help appreciated!!!
