  • Confusing data, Mevo Plus vs TGC2019

Hi, I just completed my simulator build. I'm new to all of this and I began hitting balls on the driving range within Mevo+ and noticed that it was coming up short with both my driver and Irons. I was fitted for clubs recently at an outdoor training academy using Trackman . I typically carry 227-230 yds with a clubhead speed of 94 to 96 mph with my driver. My 7 iron went 150 to 160 on Trackman.

I noticed that while on the Mevo+ range, I could not get my swing speed over 88 MPH and never once achieved a total yardage above 220 with the driver, and my 7 would max out at 146. While using the practice facility at a local club, (Shaker Run) in TGC 2019, I was getting clubhead speeds of 94 and total yardages of 270. That seems a little excessive, while the Mevo results are short. Any ideas on the discrepancies? Im betting there is an adjustment of some kind, but I haven't found it yet. Thanks for any help.

I purchased a brand new Mevo+ last week and set it up this weekend. I'm having the same problem. On a course or a range I'll hit an 8 iron ~160 yards. The Mevo+ is giving me numbers around 110 yards. I did put one of those metal dots on a ball and got up to 130, but still nowhere near accurate.

In comparison, I was at Golftec on Saturday and felt their yardages were just a few yards short of accurate, which the coach there confirmed.

All of the videos I watched before purchasing this thing talk about how dead on accurate it is, but after the fact I find quite a few discussions where people are getting very low numbers, with no solutions. How can they sell so many of these with distances being this far off?

I finally had time to take my Mevo+ to the facility where I was fitted for clubs. Their normal outdoor driving range has Toptracer. I setup the Mevo+ and compared 75 shots. It turned out that the the Toptracer data showed longer carries, but only 2 to 6 yards with my driver and a comparable amount with my 7 iron. Toptracer did not show club speed though. I was a little disappointed with that, but I have to assume that it would have been a fraction faster than the Mevo+ also but not a great deal.

I have been working on my accuracy (form) with the Mevo in my simulator. I can only guess that I have given up a little distance and club speed for accuracy, and there is probably nothing much wrong with the data from the mevo. I am still wondering why I seem to get better results on the course. I easily carry my 7 iron shots 150 yds under normal circumstances, nearly every time on the course. I am using the same kind of balls in my simulator as I do playing. I have to really catch one pure and with the greatest form to get a carry of 145 in my simulator, while doing it routinely on the course even with not the best shot.

I am not too concerned though, all things considered. I am 66 years old, 5'-6" tall and weigh 144 pounds. For a little old guy, I consider a 230 to 240 yard shot, a good shot, especially when keeping it in play. Besides, even if the Mevo is maybe a little stingy, I can certainly use the data that it produces to improve my ball striking. Long story short, it's not as bad as I thought it was.

From what I have read and seen, the Mevo+ is more accurate outside than inside. Support asked me to take mine to an outdoor range and tell them the readings, but I don't see the point in reporting back that yes it's accurate outside when my planned use is into a net.

Try yours at the same facility's indoor range and compare the results.

In theory, the FS Golf app should be the most accurate with the Mevo+ since FS made it.
While using indoors, make sure you have it set to limited flight, and either use a ball with the dot, or even better, use Titleist RCT balls for the best result.

Also, TGC 2019 uses its own flight logic, so it doesn't reflect exactly what the Mevo+ using Flightscope's calculations would have been.
I also notice that my shots in TGC 2019 go longer than FS Golf. So, for practice, I only use FS Golf for most accurate readings.

            Hi,
I agree with aussiebenny. Longer flights with TGC2019 than FS Golf. I have spot on distance with FS Golf " using limited flight" as at the range. Approx 10 feet longer in TGC209.
I hit 155 yard outside and indoor with 8 Iron.
