  • latest Mevo+ firmware update issues?

    Hi all,

my Mevo+ been working great since 2020 but yesterday's firmware update (0.29/0.33) really messed things up it seems.
I noticed that E6 started showing some weird shots on pure contact. It would show as a short bladed chip almost when the strike was pure and saw the ball flight was nominal.
Once the post shot summary stats page showed up I could see a whole bunch of zeros for most metrics...
I'm not sure if their vision based algo that's change or what but this is not good.
And that's the reason i hate companies that don't provide full detailed changelogs... I want to know what I'm risking on each update. Possiby and option to opt-out for a while.
I guess if it persists I'll have to open a ticket with them because 3-4 completely misread shots in one round is not normal. Beside the occasional weird high flying chip I got before this update it was great.

I'll go through a full battery of calibration again tonight to see if FSGolf PC highlights any changes..

Let me know if you have similar issues so I can add any data to my ticket.

    Cheers,

Yeah. I'm in process of doing this... Hopefully I can reproduce it in FSGolf though.

FYI - You can submit the session you had issues with you do not need to start a new session. Just as long as you did not delete the shots.

I am going through issues with the Mevo+ right now as well.
Since i started using it in the garage for the last 3 weeks carry distances are way too short.
I never had any issues with my device since I purchased it.
I believe its when they removed ShortIndoor mode on these new firmware updates all clubs are way short.
There is no way I am carrying a 7 iron only 110-120 yards that was my carry range in FS Golf. The longest Carry i had was 130 yards.
I looked at older session my average carry with 7 Iron was 147 +/-

I'm no single digit handicap but I know my average carry distances with my irons.

I opened a case with support and had to go through all their setup recommendations.
They wanted 8 feet from the device to ball. That left me ball to screen a little over 10'
Made me level my hitting surface and the device all even to the ball.
I change the setup to their recommendations in my garage and still the numbers are off.

I tried all the different distances from device to ball 7', 7.3', 7.6' to give the ball to screen to 10-11 feet.
      The numbers are still off.

The support person asked me to send the data through the FSGolf App I did that yesterday.

Just very disappointed right now as golf season for me is done.
I never had any issues in the two Canadian winters, I've used it.

i use the Fiber built hitting strip mostly and it hits high on the face. I did try my CCE hitting stripe well it made no difference. I will try hitting it off a piece of wood see if it makes a difference.

My distances are pretty good personally but now that temperatures are starting to drop in Ontario, I won't be expecting my carry to be as good as normal as the ball won't compress quite as much..
Also, I'm using RCT ProV1s exclusively now so keep that in mind if you have metalic dots on hard compression balls.
If you have Pro Package, keep an eye on AoA and low point as you could be hitting mat more than you think.
It's easy to get in bad habits throughout the winter. I know I do.. Mind you I'm more of a "picker" so I'm more likely to hit it thin...
My friends are all much shorter in real life when we play in sim than me for some reason. I think they hit their irons way too much on the up though.
Also make sure you're elevation/temp stuff matches the situation.. I stick to default of 0 altitude and whatever temp that comes with to isolate away from canadian weather.

Did you ever get an answer or fix? I got the same thing happening after installing that update, perfectly fine 2 days ago, today loss of 10% swing speed, I had customer support help a bit, but so far, not very successful

I still can't reproduce it in FSGolfPC.... I'll see if it happens in E6 again but now that I've switched to GSPro it's less likely to get done.
I did play with tilt angle somewhat the other day so might have a bigger effect...
But my problem is not distance related in my case. more like numbers are so out of whack that sim software assumes it's a bladed shot..

I just bought the Mevo Plus Limited Edition, and am having the same issue with it reading short. It was initially short 20-30%, but after many iterations i've narrowed it down to 10-15%. Things that helped:

        1) I initially had the unit on a stand behind the simulator, and then built an extension from my simulator to the unit at the same height.
        2) The RCT balls immediately gave be back 5-10%, and had the most noticeable effect.
        3) I tried moving it back to 9 feet, but that didn't help much. I think i'll try moving it closer to 7 feet and see if that helps
        * I wonder if a little more light may help the radar read the ball

I went so far as to exchange my unit for another Mevo Limited Edition, assuming the first was faulty. However, they both read things similarly which suggests it's either a software or setup issue. At this point, I've given data to flightscope customer care (we've been trying to figure this out for over a week) and they have been responsive but nothing seems to have worked. I went outdoors to my club, and hit 30 minutes on the range. Mevo was similarly off outdoors, which was strange. I thought being able to read the ball the entire way should have helped accuracy. However, I had a drive that hit 2/3 up the way to the range fence (243 yards), and Mevo read it at 224 yards of carry. Keep in mind I'm using range balls hitting against the wind, and Mevo is still reading things short.

I went so far as to switch units since I'm in the 30 day window, and the second unit performed similarly to the first. At this point, I'm certain it's a setup or software issue. I have no idea what else I can do on setup, but will try moving the unit closer and see if that helps. This is very frustrating, as setting it at level 8 feet back with 12.0 degrees of tilt and 0.0 degrees roll with RCT balls should be all I'm asked to do.

Anyone have any suggestions? 10% short just isn't acceptable

          Hi All,

During my troubleshooting of distances. I worked with Flightscope support. I found them really good to deal with as they are trying to really help you figure it out. I sent them in my data and the reported back they could not see any interference in my readings. Their response for me was to Swing faster. I put it to indoor swing syndrome.

The one thing I did buy for my setup was Faraday Fabric I put behind my impact screen.
I am hitting towards the garage door and when cars pass by i found the Radar picking up the moving car.
Since i put up the Faraday Fabric i do not get any of that type of interference anymore.

In the end I gave up trying to solve my distance issues with my setup. It could be Indoor swing syndrome or something with my environment.

All winter I have been concentrating on shot shape using the Club path and face to path numbers.

Maybe in the future I will invest in a new Launch Monitor but do not want to drop the $$$ right now.

FYI anyone thinking about using Faraday Fabric you can achieve the same principle with aluminum porch screen for a reduced cost. I covered my screen wall and sides in my garage for the same issue with an X3 and it works great.
        Working...
