  • Look at my numbers

Just got the Mevo plus. I have searched the site and have read tons of posts on the low driver distances. Even my 3 wood is carrying longer than my driver. My tee is 11 feet from screen. I tried 13 but no change in numbers. LM is 8 feet behind and at 12 degrees. Same level as hitting mat. No gap between.
I am no long hitter but these seem low. Called a buddy who hits it well and he has similar numbers.
    trying to post data images.

based on a chart I found online I should have better distance than this. What am I missing?

Your backspin is off the charts for a driver. I don’t have any setup tips, but your total distance makes sense given the numbers involved.

Interesting. The chart I was looking at suggested a swing speed of 107 would result in a 260ish carry. I am 40 yards under that.

Yes he is saying that since your spin is so high using your driver distance is accurate. Carry is a product of three measurements. In order of importance Ball Speed, Vertical Launch Angle (VLA), and Spin.

Your driver impact location is low on the face or the heel and you may possibly be hitting down on the ball which is not efficient for a driver.. The radar measures your Club Speed and Ball Speed and gives you a ratio of how much energy you pushed into the ball. This metric is called Smash Factor. Looking at your ball speed it's very low for 108mph club speed. A good ratio for a center strike on the driver should be 1.47-1.50. So let's multiply your Club Speed by a good Smash Factor and see what a good Ball Speed will be, 108x1.47=158.76. You are missing out on Ball Speed by not hitting the center or hitting down on the ball with a driver. Low strikes on the face usually increase the spin.

It's time to see an instructor to get your club delivery in a good place for extra carry. You're halfway there now that you have data on what the issue is.

This was also my thoughts but I get way better numbers when playing in real life vs simulator. Sounds like I can use this data to improve my ball striking regardless of the distance it shows.

It’s pretty common to swing differently at a subconscious level inside.

Here is a good article. It mentions SkyTrak, but the phenomenon occurs across all launch monitors.

New SkyTrak owners frequently complain about SkyTrak not reading their shot shape or distances correctly. It's so common that the community has coined a term for it, called "Indoor Swing Syndrome." Here's the Deal When you first start hitting balls indoors, there are many factors that can make you swing differently fro

Most players do not know their true carry distances and only know total distance. Environmental influences are a really big deal for outdoors. Just an example, tour players have make rate of 95% on an 8 foot put indoors but only 53% on an actual round. The environment accounts for 42% of missed putts outdoors from 8 feet. It’s the same for all aspects of the game outdoors.

Try spraying the face with foot spray or deodorant next time you practice and I bet you will find the ball striking the face below the equator of the driver.

I have been playing since I was 12 YO. 60 now and I can promise you. I know I am missing the sweet spot often. The indoor syndrome I am sure is a thing. Don’t really understand why my 3wood carry is longer than my driver. Heck my 5wood and driver are almost the same. I am hitting those clubs off the deck. Strange stuff.

Yeah, post the data from those clubs too. With the data we can tell you within reason why each shot did what. Most likely due to the earlier points. Ball Speed, VLA, and Spin. We can also show you how to post that information into a flight algorithm and you can adjust each one to see what's limiting your distance. It is basic physics and there is no magic behind it.

FlightScope's Trajectory Optimizer is a golf ball flight trajectory program. The program will plot the flight of the ball in real time after the user's input of the initial launch conditions of the golf ball. Based on scientific algorithms, FlightScope's Trajectory Optimizer will help you find your optimal ball flight trajectory to add distance to your golf shots.

After working on my ball striking to reduce spin I was able to get a few to carry over 250 yards. Felt like I had to come out of my shoes to do it. Club speed was 111 mph. Still 3400 rpm’s on spin.

2k spin = Upward angle of attack, neutral-ish path, center contact, 16-ish degrees of dynamic loft.

Working on a few other things and managed to carryover 260 a few times today. Thank for pointing me in the right direction. I was sure the mevo was wrong.

Yeah, without seeing the launch angle and height to go with that crazy high spin, it would be hard to tell. You could be launching it straight up into the air and losing a ton of distance. I'm guilty of launching high myself and lose a bunch of distance, which is one reason I just built myself a simulator last weekend. I got the MEVO+ Limited Edition so I would have club path data and probably most important for me, the face impact data. During my last fitting I was hitting everything off the heel of the driver and I would never have guessed that, which lead to pushing everything to the right.

I think you should be aiming for around a 13 degree launch angle and around 2200 Total Spin.
