  • Using FS Golf or cloud w a coach

Have an atypical question for this group - has anyone found a preferred way of sharing swing videos with your coach or instructor?

I’ve been working with a Skillest instructor and right now I’ll record in video mode, find the ones I want to send, and then “share” them with the data overlay, and then upload to the Skillest app. If I’ve shot a lot of video it’s a challenge to find and then upload them.

Part of that challenge is that the Apple device photo roll puts the newest at the bottom and Skillest shows the newest photos in the roll at the top. Just weird, and not expecting any help or sympathy with that first world problem.

I keep thinking FS Cloud would have some way to conveniently share data or videos with a coach. Either a shared access or export feature. Anyone have a particular method you have found success with?

When you have FS golf open and you are viewing the shot you want to send look on the lower left corner of the screen and tap the icon that has 3 buttons. This will bring up a small menu, from there select share . That will bring up several ways to share particular shot/ video you want to send.

I used a Skillest coach in the past.
I did a lot of video editing.
What i did was record video with two phones i sent my coach slow motion videos from DTL and FO and hit about 4-6 shots using the FS golf App.
I would record the IPAD screen replaying each shot from FS Golf
Transferred all the videos from the phones to my PC and use a free video editing software i downloaded from Microsoft.
I would edit the video start with shot 1 and include the DTL, FO and FS golf app video at the end so they can see the shot shape and data parameters for shot 1.
I would repeat this process for all the 6 shots or how many i wanted to send for that lesson.
There may be an easier way to do this, but this way worked for me, and I got pretty fast editing video.
I started added Text to the videos and transitions from shot to shot.

I found the slow-motion videos on my old phones were better quality than the Mevo+ camera.

      Good luck with your training!!

Thanks. It had not occurred to me to do a screen recording. That got me thinking. So I went to try it - DTL on iPhone and FO off the iPad. Thought I could screen record that play back to see both. Well… I discovered if I went to edit it like a teacher so I could add lines or something - didn’t care about that - I can “record” the “lesson” with the DTL and FO and the data overlay AND I can add a third or fourth view so I added the DTL trajectory display. All captured as a video on the iPad within the app. Very slick.

Now here is the drawback - unless I’m doing something wrong I was only able to do this while in the session w the Mevo running and all the devices active and connected. I was able to get all the video in to “edit and “record” it. Even though all the video is stored in the iPads camera roll and therefore should be accessible when I went inside and sat down to “review session” and try to do this again it was unable to load both cameras.

again, I just kinda stumbled into the first way so I may be doing something wrong in my attempt to do it later.

I love my Mevo, but I think FlightScope does a non existent job in explaining to us regular Joe’s how to use all the features.

anyone else have good luck outputting multi camera angles in a single video clip?

Operator error on my part. Figured it out. Amazing tech. really wish they had a Users Manual. Will be sending my stuff to my Skillest coach like this from now on

I would choose "C" -- live lessons with an instructor. Way more efficient in terms of time, and the golf swing is 3-dimensional so the stereoscopic vision of a live instructor is better than watching a 2-D video. The online option does let you get feedback from your favorite Youtube instructor, and there are many great ones to choose from.

I won’t argue that a live and in the room with you coach is the best ( assuming you’ve found the right person for you) but I’ve had a great experience w my Skillest coach. I was skeptical at first but thought I didn’t have much to lose by trying. I’ve done zoom lessons at 9pm my time (she’s two time zones away). I can practice at 6am or 10pm and send videos of swings or drills and get something back the next day. Best of all, all her drills and lessons are recorded so I can go back again and again to review. I’d love to have a “live” lesson with her sometime, but this has worked out well, especially in the winter. During the summer I’ll often record situations on course and then we’ll discuss how to have handled differently later. Perhaps not for everyone - but I’ve knock a few strokes off my handicap working via Skillest.
