  • Low swing speed in speed training mode Mevo Gen2

Anyone else having issues with the swing speed under-reading by 15-20mph when using the speed training mode?

When using the standard mode with a ball it reads correctly...

I set the unit up the exact same way as I do with a normal full swing session & have tried indoors and outdoors, with the same results.

I did speak to a Flightscope customer service rep on live chat, but they didn't offer any solutions.

Any succesfully using their mevo gen 2 in this mode? Any tips?

    Thanks in advance!

I have had the mevo+ since inception. Since speed training was released I have never been able to get what I consider an accurate swing speed. I have tried different set up locations both inside and out with no differences. I would have to say that it’s off a good 15 mph. I have spoken with Flightscope and have they have not offered any reason or explanation to the swing training app performance. I have a very slow swing speed in real life, 82-86 mpg. After seeing your post I pulled out my mevo+ and tried a different approach to 1 set up I have used in the past. I varied the distance from club head to unit. I found the closer I was to the unit, the high speed the speed that was recorded. I don’t know why this is the case. I am sure someone might be able to explain it. It’s had to say exactly what distance produced the fastest speed registered was around 3 1/2 ‘ toe’ from start of club head head to unit. I don’t have the most reliable swing so perhaps if you or someone else has a solid known swing speed, you/they could try different distance to see if it makes a difference for you/them. If you try this please post your findings.

edit: I will see if I can get to the range and set up the mevo+ in swing speed mode and the gc3 in normal mode and see if that will show anything different.

These number came from a GC3 in Club data mode and a Mevo+ in Swing Training mode. In this case a ball was struck. The numbers check out with my normal swing speeds. In the past when using just the mevo+ in swing training mode I had to swing out of my shoes to get my driver swing speed to normal speeds.

      GC 3. Mevo+

        Hi Shankz

Thankyou very much for trying that out, really appreciate it!

just trying to make sure I understand correctly, you setup the unit around 3 1/2 ft behind where you were hitting from? Instead of the recommended 8?

No, on the range test I set it up 8’ back like normal. When I was at home I moved between 8 and 3 1/2 feet by stepping back towards the unit about a 1/2’,at a time. Sorry for not being more clear in my earlier post.

            No problem at all

I tried putting it closer today, it did improve slightly, but it was still around 10mph slower than it should be. Bit annoying as one of the reasons why I bought it, was that it had the function for speed training.
It’s a bit mad that a £60 cheapo sports radar can do it, but this can’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

Might try tech support again, if I get any useful info, I’ll let you know
