I just heard that major update for either software or firmware coming in January. Anyone can confirm this and it's contents?

I mean VX2 app will be able to filter on Xi sensor model and be used by Xi and Xi+ sensor users. Yes sure the X2, X2 Elite and Xi Tour are compatible with the VX2 app.

Depending on the Xi sensor model you will get the parameters for that model in the app. If you have an Xi Tour you will see all parameters the same as for X2 and X2 Elite. If you have Xi or Xi+ then you will not see all parameters. I think that it is already like that in the Xi+ app.

yes I know, but VX2 app has so many other options as normalization, video recording, etc. if they will work with xi then it is a very good news yes. Does anyone know if it's possible to "normalize" for balls used? I'm hitting outdoors with a Flightscope X2 with limited flight range balls on VX2. Should I just use normalized mode although the device will track the whole flight? I believe Trackman has a function to adjust for ball used, but I'm not sure about FS. Thanks in advance.

I would like to know too. When we are on TrackMan, it recalculates and adjusts shortly after the ball is tracked all the way and gives the real numbers. It sometimes gives inaccurate reading such as smash factor of 1.57. AFAIK, you can't adjust the ball type on Flightscope, but it can be done with software upgrades . It sucks, but depending on driving ranges, limits to ball flights varies, meaning some will fly about 90~95%, and some will only fly 80%. Longer the club, it is more affected.

I have not received the new firmware update as of Jan. 28/16 as of 11:30 am EST. I just checked and tried the update feature in the PC software connected to my X2. The last firmware gives a warning that the minimum distance from sensor to ball is 108 inches which is what I have inplace right now. I am looking forward to the newest firmware release that reduces the minimum distance from sensor to ball down to 96 inches. We are halfway through the PGA Show which Flightscope had announced the firmware would be released at the show.

I set my Flightscope at 96 inches currently. I recall even shorter distances. The 108 inch minimum guideline that is contained within the firmware is to warn that if a shorter distance is used then the geometry can result in erroneous data collection/output with respect to clubhead A of A, face angle, cubhead path, etc. That is why I am eager to have a smaller fully functioning footprint available for indoor use on my PC software that is running in my garage studio.
I have on occasion overridden the suggested 108 inch minimum suggested distance, but have seen a drastic increase in undetected clubhead data. That leads me to have lower confidence in output generated at 96 inches without the new firmware issue.
The firmware is an automatic update that is issued via internet access that lets the operator accept the firmware update if have auto update selected in their software. Firmware can also be checked on a manual search performed through the PC software.

NorlinA, My latest is 3.11, so I will see if I can update the firmware tonight as well as the VX2 app. I'm justva little nervous doing so because I bought a TM version which I have not transferred ownership and don't want to screw anything up. I remember reading about someone on here screwed up their TM unit doing some kind of updates.
fhann, You are absolutely correct. I have my unit set at 96, indoor or outdoor, and it does give me inaccurate clubhead readings. Especially the AofA. For the club path and the face angle, it also seems a little off compared to the TrackMan 4 that I have an access to. Roughly, 12 degrees of in-to-out club path on FS equals to about 5~7 degrees on TM. Rough estimate, but this is based on eye balling my daughter's ball curverature and spin loft. Face angle seem to be more accurate, so I rely on that number and 5 degrees of in-to-out club path being about bench mark for a pretty straight ball flight. On TrackMan, we try to aim between 0~3 degrees club path, but also AofA dependent. For drivers, we do more like 5~10 degrees on TM, and 12+ on FS.Last edited by CaddyDaddy; 02-08-2016, 06:07 AM.

Until Flightscope issues firmware to get the 8 feet of indoor flight distance combined with the shorter 8 feet sensor to ball distance, then your TM4 data with 96 inches behind ball will give you more reliable clubhead data as compared to the X2 at the same 96 inches behind the ball when operating indoors.Last edited by fhann; 02-09-2016, 12:35 AM.

I was able to successfully update the latest software and the new firmware (ver. 3.12) last night. You haven't updated yours yet? I would love to hear if anyone has done it. I have not tried it yet, but will do so tomorrow.Originally posted by fhann View PostCaddyDaddy:

I don't know guys I have told you so many times now in these posts that you need to wait for the new apps to come out in Apple App store for you to be able to test the new short indoor distance. The firmware just updates the hardware in your Flightscope unit to be able to use this this short distance that you soon will be able to select in the new apps.

I do not have the Apple version of VX2. I have the Android version of VX2. I use the Android application outdoors on the range during golf season. Android version is dated
During the offseason, or with incliment weather, I use the Flightscope indoors with the PC software, newest version10.0.1.
I have not received any newer firmware updates that get updated automatically when I start either Android version or PC version that will run my X2. Please note NorlinA that I am not working with an Xi series launch monitor. I am working with an X2 model. And I still have not received a firmware update for the sensor that will enable the X2 to be set up with the 8 feet from the sensor to the ball, when I am running the X2 launch monitor indoors using PC version aoftware 10.0.1..
