  • Xi+ and E6 sim software

Played 2x18 holes on the demo with Xi+ today using the correct setup with my laptop connected to my Xi+.

Got instructions from FS rep on how to install and connect.

Easy install and easy setup and no connection issues what so ever.

The only issue is that it had some issues regestering a couple of chips but i just re hit them and it worked. Rather impressive to be honest. I had to re hit maybe 6 or 7 shots over two rounds. No putting ofc.

Now the last issue is if i am willing to pay 1800 dollars for a software when i can get an entire simulator with putting for the same amount? Hopefully its cheaper with the upcoming E6 cloud.

I recommend that you download E6 demo and install it. Chose the correct sensor (FS) in setup. The demo will last for 30 days and it would be great if some one figured out how to trick the software, reset clock in bios perhaps??

Connect your pc to the Xi wifi.

Below are instructions to connect your FlightScope to the E6 Software: (note before you follow the steps below, please make sure that your PC wifi network is connected to the FlightScope's hotspot)

Please go to the following folder, "C:\Program Files\TruGolf\E6 Golf 1.6"
    1. Select your C drive
    2. Program files
    3. Tru golf
    4. E6 golf 1.6
    5. E6 FlightScope setup utility

Any issues with short pitches and excessive spin?

Had to re hit 6-7 short shots (more chip than pitches) other than that i think it worked fine.

Didnt watch spin numbers tbh. Just played and tried to get the feel for it and if the immersion worked. Imo its a game and immersion is more important than exact numbers and it "felt" al right imo. If I want to practice the skills app is better.

Will play some more later this week and will try to check the numbers and report back.

Did you see that the skills app as been released for Windows? I'd check that out too. Easier to hookup to a projector.

Yeah, saw that, but I have the cables (lightning to hdmi) to hook up the iPad and if you have them it's the same as hooking up a hdmi to hdmi.

But if I buy e6 having everything on the same device is neat.

I borrowed an Xi+ and have the E6 software, and am waiting for my X2 elite to arrive. I have been trying to get Flightscope to give me the xi+ connection details for about a week. Glad to hear that they finally released it. I had success installing a USB driver, cable and connecting that way with the Xi+ and E6. If you connect your PC to the Flightscope's Wifi then your PC loses its internet connection, right?

Where did you see the information about the PC skills app? FS wouldn't give me access to the PC software until my unit arrives. Tia.

If you connect your PC to the Flightscope Wifi - how can you login to your account and have E6 internet connected? Are you required to have two network connections then?

You dont need an internet connection for E6 Demo or the full software to work. Just enter guest when you chose players. The easiest way to make the login to work is probably to have an external network adapter which you connect to wifi/lan and use the other as a connection to your Xi(+).

Is it important to select whatever club you are using with a Flightscope and E6? I cant decide if it really makes a difference in the shot outcomes, have been experimenting with it a bit. Does E6 show the club selection menu with other launch monitors?

Was also trying to figure out the best way to calibrate the aim of the system. Are there any recommendations - searched around but didn't find anything. Trial and error gets it close ... but still feels off.

Flightscope recommends putting the phone or tablet camera on the face of the flightscope and using the alignment aid within the skills app to align yourself.

I believe they have a recent write up of how to do this with the Xi models, since their isn't a location thats marked of where to place camera on Xi to make sure you're doing it right. Search for it.

I never selected my club when using E6 and my FS. Didn't notice that it made any difference, it shouldn't matter with FS.

With TM and e6 I just need to select the putter when on fringe otherwise club selection is not required.

Will answer this now after about 20 rounds and a bunch of rounds with the latest firmware.

I honestly think E6 and Flightscope is rather poor when it comes to sim and especially those short shots. It just cant read those chip and pitches, its just as simple as that.

Personally i have given up on FS as a sim and will only use it for my clubfitting/practice (where it rocks) from now on. Placed an order on a Skytrak yesterday and will use that device exclusively for sim game play.
