    Kudu advice

    Hello all,

I've got the opportunity to buy a Kudu for £800 including v10 software and skills software.

I'll be using indoors within my converted garage. I've been told it can integrate with e6.

Like a lot of people I feel that I've been waiting too long for skytrak (seems like it's still a beta product) and that ES16 is much more expensive than first thought.

My question is, is this worth the money and effort of owning? Anything I should know about the Kudu? I'm very new to this world.

I think goatbarn seems to be the resident expert on this company. But if anyone can offer positives and negatives to the device I'd be very grateful.

    Would you buy it?

    Thanks

I have a Kudu in addition to my Protee. It is a great launch monitor. BUT, you need about 23 feet from unit to screen. And, this is the last email I received from Flightscope.

I have not tried to use E6 with it. I would ask E6 about compatibility.

FlightScope Kudu and Prime models have been in the market for 5 plus years and many of the spare parts have been discontinued. We will therefore not be able to fully support units after June 2016.
This is how it will affect you:

    Repairs
Your Kudu or Prime can still be sent in for repair but because our suppliers no longer produce certain spare parts, we cannot guarantee that your unit can be repaired. We'll inspect your unit and depending on the faulty part, we'll conclude if it can be repaired or not.

    Support Agreements
No more support agreements will be sold to Kudu and Prime customers. Customers with valid support agreements will be helped to the best of our ability.

    Transfer Fee
The new owner will only be charged for a Software Upgrade and will not be able to receive an extended warranty on the unit.

The Flightscope Xi works with Trugolf e6 (you dont need the Xi Tour for sim) and has short indoor mode. In a couple of weeks Flightscope will release a puttcam fusion between radar and cams. Will be interesting to see if it can be utilized by e6 sim.

Imo Xi has a working integration but i wouldnt actually say it works with E6. That would imply that the sim experience is great and in my humble opinion its not.

I will use my FS in my club fitting but i purchased a Skytrak for a sim setup. Imo TGC (launched) and PG (coming to Skytrak) is better softwares than E6 and tbh i find the short shot mode to be inaccurate.

Sure the puttcam will come but at what price point? Following FS track record we can expect nothing less than 2000 euros and considering i will pay less than 1500 euros for my refurbished Skytrak and PG i cant see the sense in having a FS for sim play unless you plan to use it in some kind of professional capacity.

Dont get me wrong, i just love FS and my Xi+ but i have given up using it as a sim device.

I hope FS prove me wrong but i sincerely doubt it. They have given info and promises regarding this for a couple of years now and tbh not much has been delivered upon.

The simplest way to answer that is that i custom fit clubs close to the arctic circle and we have like 7 months when we cant play outdoors.

I fit most of my customers indoors and i wouldnt swap my Xi+ for any other LM. I trust it and last year all my full set customer dropped 2-4 shots on their hcp. So yes, according to the results my customers have on the course it is accurate.

BUT i dont know how well the short shot mode works since all the short game fitting i do i do without LM. What i do know/feel is that it aint good in E6.

Skills and combine work really well imo. 20 feet is enough imo and im 100% certain if you have below 100mph in swing speed with the driver and use markers.

Brutaly thanks for the info that quite helpful. I have about a 110mph swing speed with driver though, not sure if that would mess things up.

Once again i realize i might have been unclear.
          Check this out:
FlightScope golf launch monitors and portable simulators lead the charge in golf ball flight tracker technology.

FS guarantees the accuracy with 8 feet from ball to radar and 13 feet from ball to screen. That is 21 feet.

I cant imagine that 12 feet from ball to radar would mess things up. Sure you might get one or two balls with weird spin values but thats it. And to be perfectly honest those happen even if you have 21 feet in total.

In short, buy it, its a great device imo.

I just use the demo version of e6 and setup 18 holes with par 3s from junior tee, short course. Its a lot of fun. Also range and pitching area with shots around 50-90 meters are fun. Was never aiming at a full fledge sim setup. Cant say that when using e6 and Flightscope like this I can see any major differens in shot simulation. Data should be interpreted the same in e6 as in Flightscope apps? But mostly use the new VX app and Skills app and it works great. Skills app should support short indoor mode in next release. Also PC software will support all Xi models in coming release.

Integration with Focusband is also a interesting aspect of having a Flightscope, Will for sure be my next investment to get one of those headbands.

I agree under those circumstances i havent seen it mess up. Its on short chip/pitches that i have zero confidence in E6/FS. a 10 meter flopshot with a SW can turn out really hilarious imo.

Must agree, short chip shots indoor is a no go.
What launch monitor or sim hardware support those kind of shots? Flopshot, 2-10 chip and such...

Another agree here. Have played lots of E6 on trackman and the short chips are a joke even on that expensive machine.

I played TGC and PG a couple of times with SkyTrak and i wont say its perfect but its at least good enough to keep the immersion.
