Gc2a flash

I have a gc2a that I bought used. If I want to replace the flash on my unit ( I have the old one) can I just plug in the new super flash or will I need to send the unit to foresight to modify the hardware before the new super flash work ?

Somebody said that it is compatible with ones that have serial numbers 4600 or higher. I don't know that Foresight ever confirmed that though. Supposedly older ones can be upgraded for $80 to work with the superflash.
