  • GC2A with no software....help

    hi
was looking at a skytrak, but a friend has found a possible deal for a used gc2a with no software. May need to make a decision quickly on this and it more than I really have to spend, but then GC2 vs SkyTrak is no brainer if it was just down to the kit.

I know now the answer is search but time may not be on my side so if anyone can take the time to help answer a few questions it would be appreciated.

How much would the software cost for IPAD to give me the range functions including targets etc.

If I want to move into playing course simulations how much would this be.

i have read that it costs £500 to transfer ownership with Foresight. Not sure if I would have to do this.

I have also read that some of the early gc2a's have issues and later serial numbers are preferred .

is there anything else I need to be concerned about?

    thanks in advance
    cheers
    Steve.

Foresight performance app was $50 when I bought it but I heard it's free now.

TGC is $1,000 for lifetime membership. You can also find used foresight FR1 courses & range for $500-$800.

It's $500 to transfer ownership. Not necessary until/if you require service.

Some early GC2's aren't "A" models with Bluetooth. Not sure what else you could be referring to but I've only owned one for a few months.

No other concerns that I'm aware of. If you can do it and want to, go for it. I'm glad I did.

The question I can answer is that the iPad app is free, I just downloaded it as I was checking the price.
The price of software for simulation will depend on which one you want to play I.e. FSX, TGC, E6, JNPG

I have a serial 1200 A model, so fairly early. No problems at all.

iPad app is free, no "targets" tho

There is also a demo for CG3, I think it's called, link can be found with a quick google. I'd post but I'm on phone and lazy...

To clarify from post #2, "A" models enable connectivity to apple devices. "A" does not mean it has Bluetooth- all models have Bluetooth unless that board was removed or is broken.

Thanks all for the replies, I downloaded the IPAD App for free, just in case they decide to put the charge back. To be honest that will be enogh for the time being, until I buy it and want more
The transfer fee seems a bit of a rip off, but hey ho.

I really hope this deal happens. If it does I am sure I will be back with more requests for help.

I guess this would need to include the dongle for use with a PC?

The iPad app does not require a dongle. It'll connect through Bluetooth to your iPad. No PC or Mac connection whatsoever with that app. You're not gonna get more info than it provides "on the cheap". Look at the screen shots in the Apple App Store. What you see is what you'll be getting. There is nothing they're hiding from you there. I personally like the app. Much better than the GC2 display in-and-of itself. You'll long for more in the end. You'll wanna get some type of software that gives you a range type of option, and/or simulation. That's gonna cost you. Do your research on this site and you'll love the GC2 (a.k.a., the poor man's GCQ).
