  • Wildly different ball spin brand to brand (gc2)

Just looking for some others input. I get wildly different spin numbers from different balls.(gc2) If i use a pro v my spin on a 7 iron averages between 7-8k and around 10K with a 56 wedge. Now if I switch to lets say a bridgestone e6 my spin numbers for a 7 iron go to about 4K and the wedge to about 5K. Now don't get me wrong I know there is a difference between these balls, but this seems dramatic. this isn't like a 3 shot thing or a one day thing, this is averaged over hundreds of shots over different days, weeks even. I ask because in general on the course I play the E6 never had a problem holding a green or stopping a wedge fast. I actually Don't play the pro v because I spin it too much on the course and tend to overwork the irons. Now if I play the e6 on TGC I Can't stop a wedge to save my life but the pro v will stop on a dime. could there really be that much of a difference between the balls ?

Surlyn cover vs urethane on the V1 and yes they do make that much of a difference. Is the course you play soft?

I've noticed the same thing; gc2 has been an eye opener. Always preferred urethane covers but didn't realize hard balls approach with half the spin. I used to game e6 (long before gc2) and always liked it. It has a nice sound off the putter too.

Yes. There is absolutely that much difference. You'll also notice that non-urethane balls will launch a few degrees higher. I have seen these results on both SkyTrak and GC2, fwiw.
