  • Question about GC2!

    Hi guys,

I'm interested in getting a GC2 but I am getting confused with the original model and refurbished model from Foresight.

    1) bluetooth: it looks like the new refurbished one is not ipad compatible. Does this mean I can't use the ipad app furthermore golf simulator games like tgc e6 and so forth? What's the difference in this bluetooth?

    2) software: i know that fsx is the latest version. I also heard that original software was fr1. Can I still get the fr1 on gc2 and can I still buy courses there? I mean what is the main difference vs fsx other than graphic improvement? Does gc2 come with free fr1 range software?

I'm contemplating on whether I should go for the ebay one or the official refurbished one.
    Thanks a lot.

    1. Refurbs should be apple compatible unless the one in question is that old. Don't think foresight has any reason to disable. Same for 3rd party. People on this forum have refurbished units and run 3rd party.

    2. You can still buy FR1 from people if you look long enough. Just need the files and dongle (security thumb drive). Can usually find loaded on a computer that's for sale (eBay and this forum). With FSX there are skills challenges and ability to save all shot data on cloud to compare equipment, get averages per club, etc. it's pretty cool but FR1 is not bad either. https://performance.foresightsports.com

Keep in mind if buying on eBay there's a $500 fee to foresight to transfer ownership before they'll do any repairs or tech support. Not so with refurbished.

    You won't regret a gc2.

      Thanks for your answer.

      1) so refurb should be better since it has apple compability and all others the same as older unit? (Play 3rd party and etc.)
      2) oh so fr1 doesnt store data? I just never saw that software before..where can i see the screenshots? So i guess for range fsx should be better technically?

Refurb is good because foresight just went through the machine and the $500 transfer fee is a non issue. Only the very oldest ones aren't "gc2a" (apple compatible versions).

Range & practice wise, FSX is unmatched imo if you're into the numbers and tracking progress with a cloud account.

FWIW, FR1 owners can buy FSX at a reduced rate. So if your used GC2 happens to come with a computer loaded with FR1 software you can upgrade later and have both.

I'd be remiss not to say that TGC is a really great product. If you're into playing unlimited courses with unmatched graphics with online tournaments then TGC shines.
