  • How is your GC2 positioned - Does it affect spin?

I'm just a few weeks into using my setup, only played a few rounds on it as I have a bunch of other room work to do. I'm not good enough as yet to be able to tell the distance of a good shot versus that of a poor shot.

However, a buddy of mine is much better.

We played a round last night and he was saying that the Draw was much more pronounced in this game and that the long irons seemed to be off, especially on a mishit.

    So, my questions are

    1) Is there an update to do recommended best settings for GSX/TGC? I saw some posts from 2014 but not sure they are still relevant (revamp the sticky note in this forum)?
    2) Is your GC2 on the same level as the hitting mat or raised up. Does it make a difference?
    3) Does lighting affect the GC2 ? Back/Front/Side lighting known to cause read issues?
    4) Does the mat punish poor hit shots?

Originally I had an issue with the reads on my system but that was because the mat was moving. I've fixed that but it's still not quite right (per my buddy)

i would say about 7/10 times, where my friend was about 3/10 having more draw than real flight outdoor compared to trackman real ball tracking.

other ball data, ball speed/launch direction etc. are all almost identical vs trackman.

the only data that was significantly different was Spin Axis (Sidespin), of gc2 being more to the left.

the setup was all great. latest 4.0 firmware and tracking very well with very very similar numbers as trackman, but indoor/outdoor draw/hook shots are really bugging me. Because i am really liking it indoors reading chip/putt very accurately.

    any idea to fix this?
What is it that you want to fix? Trackman is known to not give correct spin axis indoors. Or are you seeing more draw/hook on gc2 outdoors tool?

That is what I said. So GC2 is not right in my comparison. Gc2 is showing draw/hook in outdoor too where Trackman shows just like indoor. And it was calm no wind condition.

Just curious who said Trackman is not known for right Spin Axis? Trackman never calculates Spin Axis, only ball spin indoor. So you need to put the metallic sticker on the ball to measure ball spin in lower drives but my indoor is 13ft so most of the time it measures fine (i would say it measures and not calculates 6 out of 10 in a driver shots, 9.5 out of 10 on all other shots). I have plenty of space indoor. If I had 15ft I probably would’ve caught 1000rpm.

regardless, driver, irons, wedges are all drawing/hooking more than it should be on gc2 both indoor and outdoor. Indoor i can see the ball went to the right but gc2 says the ball started from the middle drawing to the left hmmm??

any fix or recommendation? It is leveled at the same surface as the mat.

HI. Don't know if there is something else that is calculated. I have a good friend who has a simulatorplace with several trackmans and we have done some comparisons. Outdoors: both showed pretty much same numbers every shot. Apart from gc2 giving excessive carry numbers on low spin driver shots.
Indoors: good straight shots were very close. But when you start to get some curvature on the ball and missing the middle of the clubface we found that trackman was giving us some odd figures. This was with about 15 ft to the screen.

I just did my testing outdoor today with GC2 vs TM4 (I posted on this website). The largest difference on a low spin driver shot was about 13yds. Other than that, they were within 2-10yd longer on GC2 which was tolerable for me.

Indoor I will test it soon but so far the only number that was off from GC2 was Spin Rate when calculated, as high as 2000-3000rpm. But the ball flight seemed good to me. My indoor is 24ft from TM4 to the screen. ball to screen is 13ft. Interesting that you didn't get any draw-biased shots. I want your machine lol.

Which odd figures are you talking about?

Trackman support said they are so confident in Spin Axis that although it’s calculated its treated as if its measured.

Try the gc2 higher than the mat. Keither says 7/8 ideal. I only get the draw inside which had me think it’s set up.

Raising it is different that leveling. I personally only get a draw bias in doors but a few have said they have better results with it higher that the surface.

I tested today outdoor. GC2 was still all draw biased. 11% of the shots went completely different way with GC2 vs real flight. I didn't raise it though. I'll try this indoor and see the findings.

Leo, I recommend running a tilt calibration on it. If you pm me your email I’ll send it. Run the program on a dead flat surface. I used my pool table. Some people have stated that helped. I send it to 5 people a month still.
