Gc2 distance off

You ever figure this out? Can it be possible that when you said you were all around the 150 flag but GC2 was showing 142 that your eyes could be off 8 yards when landing? From the tee it's pretty hard to tell where you land and after a bounce think you landed 150 but actually landed 142 like it said. Also is the flag at lower elevation as in the tee box higher up like most courses? That would land at 150 but on flat ground land in lower 140's. The GC2 was used by professional players and club fitters for years and still used so I 100% think it has to do with the alignment of the Unit to your swing path or turf interaction. So so so many people come to my house and say my GC2 is reading short meanwhile I have no issues with the yardages compared to outdoors so 100% is indoor swing syndrome from people not playing in weeks or monthes plus tight muscles, different feeling on the mat, skewed preceptuon of what their real numbers on a course are. Lots of people stand at the 150 yard marker on the course and hit green thinking they hit 150 but in reality their ball was on front of green which can be 140. So all they know is since they hit green from 150 it's their 150 yard club.

How far off are your ball speed and carry distances? Have you tried hitting with it outside so you can see how far the ball actually went? The GC2 only shows carry distance, so if you are used to getting a lot of roll that could be part of it. Also, if you are new to swinging inside, you can expect to subconsciously hold back and lose distance as well.
If it is off by a large margin (like 50%) then the flash could be the problem. It would be helpful if you could hit a shot outside and report all the numbers the GC2 spits out as well as the observed carry distance.

Thanks Leo, unit is quite old. We've never tried changing flash, just thought flash captures shot only. Tried checking the firmware and ensure feet was down, as recommended by my seller.

If ball speed and carry are off, it's likely either the flash issue or overhaul needed. At home calibration won't do you any good. If you bought it new, you should be able to get checked under the warranty for free. if not, then you will pay some money by sending off to Foresight and have it checked and fixed.Originally posted by fore_golf View PostHi all, newbie here, please excuse me if this was asked before and don't mean to highjack your thread. I'm having issue with GC2 results showing ball speed & carry is off. I was told by my seller that they have to run calibration diagnostic/tune up in house. Not as simple as a sw fix. Do you know if calibration has to be done at a facility using a "calibration plate"?
Let me know if I should open a new post. Thanks all!

Are your HMT numbers off too? If it was the flash, I would suspect that they would be messed up.

Have you checked the flash?Originally posted by smayner View PostI just had something even more dramatic happen. Have been using my GC2+HMT in my practice studio and it has been working fine. Yesterday the carry number went completely off, like it reports numbers under 10 yards for every shot. My little portable unit I take to the range was confirming these same shots should have been in the 140s. I reset the unit with the same results and ran it disconnected from the computer so I am just looking at its internal screen. An6 suggestions on what’s going on here?

So I did compare with 7 iron. Everything looks very similar except that the range balls had lower spin (by 1000rpm) and lower launch angle (by 4-5 degrees) (and thus indoor had 5-8yds more distance since launch angle contributed more than spin). Although samples are not large and I'm not a scratch golfer, I do feel that CCE stats is actually very close or accurate to real life if I were to hit outdoor with a premium ball.
Overall I think CCE is good then!

Miura Mario is correct actually haha. Because these are my driver shots which involved no mat whatsoever hahaha.
I did hit some 7 iron shots so I should compare those. Let me see if I have some similar samples.

Matt doesn't add issues to driver swings - only balls struck off of matt (irons, wedges, woods off deck)

What we know is that you have a higher launch angle and lower spin indoors. It’s what all the new drivers attempt to do so it’s no surprise it carries longer. I get big difference in carry with driver based on spin which is based on face contact for me.
I wonder if it’s trackman in indoor mode. I forget where I read it, but I think trackman indoor isn’t the best at tracking spin numbers. If this is driver off a tee, I think it might be trackman calculating spin too low. Is there a way to force trackman outdoors to be in indoor mode? Then you can see if it reports the same low spin numbers.
The other thing to check is get some foot spray and check the impact location. High on face = high launch low spin. So if indoors you are hitting it higher on the face, that could solve your mystery. So if it’s off a tee, I am leaning towards something other than mat.
