  • Gc2 distance off

I felt my gc2 distance was off, then other told me it's the "indoor" effect. So I took it out to the range just to make sure. The condition was about 85 degree and no wind.

with my best club the 7 iron was my starting pt. Ball scatter all around the 150 flag, a few in front but most of them were 5-10ft over. Gc2 was showing distance between low of 128yd high of 142yd. Then I tried the driver, it was landing around the 250 mark and roll. Gc2 reports between lowest 199 highest 238. Then my PW was landing right in front of the 120 flag every time. But GC2 range was 108-112. I also went to ask the proshop how accurate was the marks on the range. He said is very accurate, since the university men's team practices here.

so it seems my gc2 is off indoor and outdoor about 25 yds on the driver, 10-15yd off on the 7 iron and 10 yds off the PW. I have tried putting the gc2 1-2 inch above th ground. I tried with no protective case. I tried have it lower than the hitting surface. It all seems to give me lower numbers.

Is lighting or my hitting mat causing the issue? Or I assume I can't place the wrong to far or too close, since gc2 won't give me the green light unless is on the good spot.

    and suggestions?

Yesterday the carry number went completely off, like it reports numbers under 10 yards for every shot. My little portable unit I take to the range was confirming these same shots should have been in the 140s. I reset the unit with the same results and ran it disconnected from the computer so I am just looking at its internal screen. An6 suggestions on what’s going on here?
    Have you checked the flash?

Hi all, newbie here, please excuse me if this was asked before and don't mean to highjack your thread. I'm having issue with GC2 results showing ball speed & carry is off. I was told by my seller that they have to run calibration diagnostic/tune up in house. Not as simple as a sw fix. Do you know if calibration has to be done at a facility using a "calibration plate"?
Let me know if I should open a new post. Thanks all!

If ball speed and carry are off, it's likely either the flash issue or overhaul needed. At home calibration won't do you any good. If you bought it new, you should be able to get checked under the warranty for free. if not, then you will pay some money by sending off to Foresight and have it checked and fixed.

Thanks Leo, unit is quite old. We've never tried changing flash, just thought flash captures shot only. Tried checking the firmware and ensure feet was down, as recommended by my seller.

How far off are your ball speed and carry distances? Have you tried hitting with it outside so you can see how far the ball actually went? The GC2 only shows carry distance, so if you are used to getting a lot of roll that could be part of it. Also, if you are new to swinging inside, you can expect to subconsciously hold back and lose distance as well.

If it is off by a large margin (like 50%) then the flash could be the problem. It would be helpful if you could hit a shot outside and report all the numbers the GC2 spits out as well as the observed carry distance.

You ever figure this out? Can it be possible that when you said you were all around the 150 flag but GC2 was showing 142 that your eyes could be off 8 yards when landing? From the tee it's pretty hard to tell where you land and after a bounce think you landed 150 but actually landed 142 like it said. Also is the flag at lower elevation as in the tee box higher up like most courses? That would land at 150 but on flat ground land in lower 140's. The GC2 was used by professional players and club fitters for years and still used so I 100% think it has to do with the alignment of the Unit to your swing path or turf interaction. So so so many people come to my house and say my GC2 is reading short meanwhile I have no issues with the yardages compared to outdoors so 100% is indoor swing syndrome from people not playing in weeks or monthes plus tight muscles, different feeling on the mat, skewed preceptuon of what their real numbers on a course are. Lots of people stand at the 150 yard marker on the course and hit green thinking they hit 150 but in reality their ball was on front of green which can be 140. So all they know is since they hit green from 150 it's their 150 yard club.
