  • Foresight Quad

    Gentlemen,
just recieved a Foresight Quad,on loan,to try it out in the field. So far, very impressed.
    couple of questions,excuse the basic level of inquiry,I'm an instructor,not a tech-head:
-Downloaded the app, seems fine, just what I need. But what is FSX?
-Is there an "optimizer",similar to TMan software?
-No Bluetooth connection availability,is this an issue if wifi works fine?
-I'm a little wary of it being in front of the strike area, socket will take it down quickly.Has anyone experienced this?

    thanks for any help,
    Kevyn.

Who loaned you the Quad? Foresight Sales?

*FSX is a proprietary software the Quad uses. It has both a golf course and a range software.
*Optimizer as well as Normalizer are only available on TrackMan software. I think those are by far the best differentiator between other software which is also why a lot of PGA pros use TrackMan.
    * GC2 has a protective case but Quad doesn’t have one yet as far as I know.

Bluetooth is disabled and not on roadmap to be enabled.

There is no need for Normalise on a GCQ as it’s giving you a calculated ball flight.
Normalise on TM essentially turns off the wind and shows where the ball would land given no environmental conditions... which is essentially what the GCQ shows anyway.

Normalising to cater for ball temperature is viable for such units.

Yes and no, because while GCQ output works as a normalize function it doesn’t have an option to ‘denormalize’ and account for true ball flight in real condition whether it’s indoor or outdoor. That’s why I said this along with an Optimizer is a big differentiator against other companies.

Yes, but obviously that’s impossible for a camera based system to have a ‘de-normalise’ function as it comes up with the data before the ball has moved less than a foot!

If you want to use a GCQ to simulate ‘real life conditions’, then you’d have to use FSX to switch on wind or rain etc. Otherwise it will just give perfect conditions.

Thank you Leo.Took it out to the range the day, spent a couple of hours tinkering.Initial thoughts,if anyone is interested.

-extremely easy to set up and align. This is a biggie for me as I can't afford to fumbling around while a client waits. Also, more confident with the alignment than with Flightscope.
-Extremely portable.Always annoyed me lugging the Flightscope up to the range.
-Software interface, also very clean. The club head graphics to teach with are great, very simple.
-seems to be more accurate than the Flightscope, difficult to say as I didn't have it with me to run a comparison.Less funky readings.
-One face sticker came off,no biggie.
-Larger,and more defined hitting area, great feature.

        Downside:
-Apparently I need a new Driver, launch angle far too low😂

        Greetings from Jamaica!

KevynGolf I don't have the quad but I do have a GC2 with HMT. I think for you the biggest advantage of it over Flightscope and Trackman will be with 4 dots you will have lie angles and for driver you will have impact location. I can't believe what a difference impact location makes with driver. Check out that data next time you fire it up. It also is usually the explanation when the path and club face data does make sense with ball data, usually lie angle and impact location tell the story.

My pro uses a Trackman 4, and simply sprays some foot spray on the driver head to find the impact location!
