GC2 Lighting

Was wondering if anyone has advice on lighting for a GC2 Sim environment. Got a Sim built in my garage and windows are blocked out. I have 2 - 60 watt bulbs providing minimal lighting, in addition to the projector. The GC2 works great for irons and woods. Never misses a shot, but when I go to putt it says "did not see the shot" almost everytime. I can hear the flash firing. Took it inside to my Study and it saw my putts just great, so I am thinking it is the lighting.

Is CFL good or whould incandescents be better. What about LED's. What color Temp?

Is a single spot right on the hitting zone what is needed? From directly overhead?

Or is the Flash failing, as the Foresight Rep suggested? That does not make sense to me if works so well with Irons and Woods.

I would guess it's the flash failing. My GC2 works in complete darkness, sunlight and any artificial light. I have never seen that "did not see the shot" message

I have heard of one guy whose screen was tilted such that the reflection from the overhead lighting happened to reflect right onto the GC2's camera and it was causing no reads but only with pitch shots. I think the light must have been causing glare right in the high launch area. Maybe yours is getting glare in the horizontal area that it is looking for on putts? You might try angling the screen up or down to see if that helps.

Where does it say that? In fsx? Is your gc2 higher than the level of the surface?

The GC2 unit says "did not see shot" and the reading on the GC2 are all "---". The GC2 is about 1/2 inch higher than the turf surface.

I assumed you meant that the GC2 is showing "---" for all parameters when you say that it doesn't see the shot. If not, disregard what I said earlier.

Since you state the sim is in your garage what type of heating are you using? I have some IR radiant heaters and if I put the heaters directly across from the GC2 it will sometimes miss shots when the heaters cycle on. I assume the IR emissions from the heaters are interfering with the shot camera image during the flash. Just moving the heaters off axis eliminates the problem..

No real heat in the garage, but residual heat from 2 gas fired hot water heaters. I would have never thought of the IR radiant heaters affecting things

My gc2 seems to miss more with in floor radiant heat running. Very peculiar 🤔
