  • Transfering TGC from Skytrak to GC2

    Hi everyone

I just recently moved my TGC license from the skytrak to the gc2 and I thought it might be helpful if I made a post of the steps I took. The information is in the forum, but is spread out through a lot of threads.

You will need two license keys. One for the protee interface and one for the TGC program

Ok, first download the protee interface -

Install the protee interface and launch it, Click on Enter License Key and the next screen will show the machine id. Copy that number down

Contact Pro Tee customer support and request a license key for the protee interface, include the machine id that you copied from the interface.
(you can try and request the TGC license at the same time, I didn't do this, but they might send both)

Launch the protee interface again and enter the license key they sent you.

Download the gsx interface - http://golf.symftp.net/download/gswebsetup.exe. Run the program and install the gsx program.

Now go to Foresight section of the forum and click on the sticky GC2 GSX and Pro Tee Interface setup for TGC and follow those directions exactly

Once you are able to connect both programs, launch the TGC program and paste the TGC license key into the license section and activate it.

It should read (Pro Tee) behind your name in the license section once its complete.

    That should be it

If I missed anything, or anyone has suggestions, please feel free to add your feedback

Thanks again to Pro Tee and everyone on the forum for all of their help

captnkrusty.... I'm considering the same change. Can you post up as to why you made the change and what you have noticed as the biggest differences in use between GC2 and Skytrak ??

Also, I'm assuming you are using the GC2 minus HMT. I'd like to know your thoughts on the information displayed from TGC using "I" for club strike info.

I read somewhere that with GC2 your shot display in TGC shows from where the ball hits the screen, not from the center screen position. (That one may be false, not sure where I read it.)

I'm sure I'll have other questions and sure would like to continue to pick you brain if you don't mind !

The TGC post screen shot doesn’t show HMT club data. I use the HMT and even with HMT data on the post shot screen (I key), I prefer getting the data from the GC2 screen with the screen light on. It’s the same in the other softwares.

As as for where the ball takes off you see the ball on the screen and can move it side to side but that ball on the screen takes off from where it is.

The biggest difference between the twn LM’s is accuracy, consistency and ease of use with the later two being the most important.

That pretty much summed it all up Now for the fist question

When I first started researching my build, I wanted the GC2 but was having a hard time justifying the price for something I wasn't sure I would use enough. The Skytrak had good reviews, was affordable and worked with TGC. Skytrak hadn't changed there price structure yet for the game improvement plan and it was still 99.00 for the TGC integration.

After using the Skytrak and TGC for a year, I really enjoyed being able to have friends over, play 9 or 18 holes and experience different courses. Also, Foresight began to offer their refurbished GC2s for a lower price. My goal is to sale my skytrak and apply that to the price of GC2. So I decided to take the plunge and get the GC2

One other thing that I really like about the GC2 is the larger field of view for placing your ball on the hitting mat, your not limited to the laser of the skytrak

Also, I hit into a net return, and don't have a hitting screen, so I can't comment on where the ball hits the screen question

              Hope that helps

Thx captn !!! I'm in about the same place. Thinking I can sell my Skytrak helps my head with the additional cost.

As to the (I key) info provided by TGC, question for you and mthunt, I'm assuming all of the HMT info is calculated and not actual (I don't mean that to sound as though I think it's a bad thing, Math is Math and it's hard to fool physics) weather using Skytrak or Gc2 (minus HMT). What are your thoughts on the info presented.

mthunt, does it match up well with what HMT sees ????

And here I am.......... Just started the process and I have a question on your first couple of steps

You say to download the ProTee interface. I can do that (at least I think I can by just following your link).

Then, "Install the protee interface and launch it, Click on Enter License Key and the next screen will show the machine id. Copy that number down"...... There is my first question, How does it know the machine ID number ?????? Should I have the GC2 connected with the USB ????

Sorry if these are stupid questions, I'm trying to know as much as possible before I screw something up.

The machine ID is exactly how it sounds. It identifies your computer (machine). If you wipe your computer and reinstall all software, your machine ID will be different and you’d have to request a new license key with the new machine ID.

Not at all It is not tied to the GC2 from what I could tell. Just copy and paste the machine id number and give that to Protee. They will send you the license key and you can proceed with the next steps.

No problem at all. Once you have the machine id, it should go pretty quick.
