  • GC2 Left Bias Issues?

Has anyone had any issues with GC2 being left bias? I have noticed some 30+ yard hooks with 7 or 8 irons when I hit indoors in my living room, so I'm not actually seeing the ball flight. Even though I am a drawer of the ball, and my miss is a hook, that seems exaggerated. I got out the ruler and made sure the GC2 unit is very meticulously aligned parallel to my target line. The other day, we had a little warmer day here in new england. I brought the GC2 to the range, again measured alignment very carefully. Balls that were straight or even faded a little because I forced them to, they still displayed left side spin on the GC2. Any idea how this can be? Anyone have any issues with this? At this point, I'm very close to just giving up on GC2.

    Thanks!

Run the tilt calibration tool. It is important to have the unit perfectly level by using a leveling tool to be sure it is level in all axis when the calibration is run.. Also take note of what the azimuth reading is for shots that have excessive hook spin. The other thing you can try is to reload the latest firmware from the Foresight site which is 4.0.0.15. Your problem is not common in a properly aligned and calibrated GC2.

If you bought it used then it may have one or both cameras out of alignment from being bounced around. In that case you probably have to send it in to Foresight for a camera alignment.

I bought it refurbished from Foresight in November. Forgive my ignorance, but are there instructions anywhere on how to run the calibration too or reload firmware? Should I be hooking the GC2 up to a laptop to do this. I didn't get software with the unit yet. Still deciding on which is the least hassle to hookup. I just use the free performance ipad app. Sorry, tech isn't my expertise.

I wouldn’t hope too much for a difference. I calibrated using the tool and used various method but the result was the same. Though I sent the unit now and am waiting for it to come back. But I heard from another user who is an PGA Apprentice and he sent the unit 3 times with the same draw biased result, and Foresight told him the unit had no problem. In my intensive testing in my other posts here, I came to the conclusion that assuming the unit is correctly calibrated, the draw-bias really depends on what type of player you are. Because when I had 7/10 draw biased shots, my friend only had about 3/10. So I can see why Foresight and some GC2 users would say it is fine because it is very player-dependent. Kind of like a grey area that Foresight doesn’t want to open up a can of worms on this, as they only care about GC Quad now. If the problem still persists I would have the Foresight check the unit out. If you also have any Trackman users around you, hit like 100 shots and compare and hand Foresight those findings.

Yes, several people including myself think that there is an issue with exaggerated draws, particularly with short irons and wedges. Some people have had luck with raising the GC2 higher than the mat. Here are a couple of threads on the issue.
I'm just a few weeks into using my setup, only played a few rounds on it as I have a bunch of other room work to do. I'm not good enough as yet to be able to

Test Environment: *Outdoor Grass turf *No wind, perfect weather *Callaway Practice Balls *Trackman software normalized mode to have an equal field as GC2 *Tested 56

The more and more threads I read, the more I'm thinking this could be a TGC issue. Users of both GC2 and skytrak seem to have hook side spin issue in TGC but

It's not just draws. It's their flight algorithm. I think it's mostly just dated. With the new equipment and balls we just don't see these ball flights anymore. I'm hoping they will collect data and update it with their new down range tracking system.

Very helpful feedback folks. I will definitely look into this because it seems very odd.

My miss is also left, and the GC2 is definitely biased toward exaggerating the right to left flight. I've learned to live with it over the years, not much to do about it.

You need a computer and a usb to mini usb cable. The instructions for the firmware update are on the Foresight site. If you get that far send me your email address in a PM and I'll send you the tilt calibration software.

I am getting a little nervous now since I have ordered a GC2. Does Foresight monitor these forums for issues such as this? Seems like I have seen enough posts about left bias spin that they should be looking into this and responding.

Have you contacted Foresight? They provide very good support when you buy from them. I suggest you start there.

You don’t need to worry. It’s an amazing device.

Is the draw bias in TGC, or only in Foresight's software?

Draw bias is in the GC2. Not to add further confusion but I replaced my irons a month ago and the draw bias went away completely.

M2’s. I know. I know. Game improvement clubs. Lol. They were really cheap so I tried them.

I haven’t experienced draw bias with the gc2. I experienced low spin with the driver for the first week and quickly realized it was my unreliable swing. Basically hitting duck hooks. When I swing correctly I have no trouble getting 2500ish spin.

Good to hear it is fixed. Did you take it outside and test it? Low spin (backspin) is different from hooking the ball. Gotta see the actual ball flight which is caused by Tilt Angle (Spin Axis)

If you would run tilt calibration at an angle. Could you make the gc2 fade biased? Maybe this could be a remedy (band aid) for those who have draw biased units?
Who wants to go first :-)

I've contact Foresight a few times, but with the PGA show last week, the communication has suffered. I just emailed them again.
