    GC2 - Does my flash need to be replaced?

    Hi guys - I just bought a used GC2A (serial A48xx). 2 quick questions:

    1. FLASH - I think that the Flash may need to be replaced. The guy who sold it to me says it is "brand new", but I highly doubt it. It is definitely NOT a Super Flash. I took a video of it, but I can't upload it on this Forum. Anyway, the Flash makes a buzzing sound when I hit small chips and putts in my house and it makes a purple light that seems to "studder" for a quick second. Is it supposed to do this? I was expecting it to make a bright flash like a camera, but it is definitely not doing that. Do I need to replace it?

    2. TOTAL DISTANCE - Is there a way to view the "total distance" on the actual GC2 unit or in the App? I can only see the Carry Distance.

    Your flash situation is normal. You will hear it firing on soft chips and putts because the club hitting the ball isn't loud enough to mask the sound. There is also an infrared filter that only lets infrared light and a little bit of red through. Inside the flash is a white light that would be distracting if a clear lens was used.

    You cannot see total distance on the GC2. I'm not sure about the app though. All of the simulation softwares will show total distance.

      I'll add the total distance is going to vary on where you land which is why you won't see it on the GC2. You'll need to have some form of simulation software to get a total distance. The app may provide this, don't recall. If it does it would assume a flat landing surface.

        App does not provide total distance, only FR1 and FSX, provide total for the given ground conditions

          Thank you so much for your replies. I really appreciate it. I have ordered a Super Flash for when my normal flash dies down the road, but its great to hear that it is most likely working properly. Thanks again.

            If you ordered a super flash use it and keep the current one as a back up. The super works better.

              The super flash gives a stronger flash resulting in less miss reads and last longer than regular flashes.
