    Buying GC2 advice

Just joined, I want to say that this is a great forum with a lot of useful information !

Planning to buy a GC2, so far I am considering a pre-owned from Foresight (super flash, new battery, 6 month warranty) for 4600 US. I am also "monitoring" ebay for new lists, surprisingly I just saw a GC2 sold for the same price as the refurbished one.

So my question is: anything wrong with the refurbished GC2 from Foresight ? Are there any other buying options that ebay or Foresight for the used ones ?

    Thanks a lot !

IMO buying refurbished from FS at 4600 is a great way to go. Many on eBay don’t realize FS charges a $500 transfer fee for outside sales before they’ll sell parts or make repairs. That fee doesn’t apply to refurbs. Plus you get the 6-mo warranty. You’ll love gc2.

WIll they actually sell it to you without FSX? I thought they were forcing that on people as part of the purchase.

Did you actually contact FS? 4600? It is listed at 5400. Were you able to barter them down?

At that price I would go for the refurbished unit. What are hey charging you for the software?

The price was from Foresight Canada, actually 6000 CAN (around 4700 US with tax and shipping), no software included. I also had a quote for a new one at 9000 CAN (7000 US)

I also plan to buy the TGC, I see that you can buy TGC from par2pro at 995$ or ProTee Golf 2.0 & TGC at 1195$.

              - is it Protee worth the extra 200$ ?
              - any other options to buy TGC ?
              - any idea if you need to pay to upgrade for future releases(TGC2, TGC 2019) ?

              Thanks a lot !

you can also check out the classified ads on this site.... you can pick up TGC even more cheaply quite often. Keep in mind that TGC can be transferred only once, as I understand it, so if you buy 2nd hand you'll get a great deal, but you won't be able to re-sell

Hey Christian, I talked a lot to a guy at ForeSight Canada just recently about the same CPO (certified pre-owned) GC2 deal you are(were) looking at. He basically said that they really do take care to refurbish the units very carefully, they don't just phone it in (his words, paraphrased). By buying CPO you won't have the $500 ownership transfer fee. You do NOT have to buy FSX software... you get whatever you want.

WRT to buying 2nd hand from ebay or a forum member, you save tax $$ and may get a better deal, but just make sure you know that the battery & flash have unknown amount of use on them, and there is no warranty of course. Also, you DON'T have to pay FS the $500 transfer fee to use the GC2.... BUT if you ever want service, products, or support from foresight, then you will.

Hope this helped.... post what you decided to go with!
