Using FSX with a GC2 that is not registered to me

I purchased a GC2 from a local shop that closed. It came with FR1 and dongle. I never paid the transfer/registration fee with Foresight sports. I am looking at upgrading to FSX 2018. Does anyone know if I will be able to use the GC2 with the software? I also currently have the sim set up in my "shop." Which does not have wifi access. If I purchase the FSX dongle version will this still work?
I know I can call Foresight and ask these questions. I just don't want to have them question me about why I haven't transferred the GC2 over.

a) There is no more dongle version for FSX and FSX2018.
b) You would have only pay the fee of $500 if you want to service your GC2.
c) You don't need to transfer the ownership, like I said in b) only if you want to service your product.
d) I heard that you need to pay like $1500 to upgrade to FSX and send back the dongle.

If I were you, I would sell FR1 separately, and buy FSX2018 from Foresight.

When I talked to the foresight guys last week, they told me that I would have to pay the $500 transfer fee not just for servicing the gc2, but for buying any software or parts from them. If you are buying a big ticket item like FSX2018 maybe they would waive the fee. I was speaking with a rep from FS Canada, though, so perhaps they handle things differently? I'm guessing not. You should probably just call them and ask

FSX isn’t tied to any specific launch monitor.
I had a friend take round his GC2 / HMT as he wanted to try it out with my FSX.
It worked out well for Foresight, as using the HMT for a few hours made me buy one too!!

Am i right in saying it is not tied to a PC as well, so if you go away for a few weeks you can let a relative / friend activate it on their PC!!!
But does that mean their shot data is collected under your FSX Online Performance account? So they could use it in offline mode?

It IS tied to a PC - you have to go through an activation process when you first get it.
My friend and I both played and logged into our own FSX Live accounts - so both our data was collected.

Initially that is why I was after the dongle version (laptop / desktop) 2 places.
But foresight said you can deactivate it as many times as you want on laptop and re-activate on PC and vice a versa, just takes a little longer than putting a dongle in/out....that is why I asked about "renting" it out now and again hehe...so it is tied to the ACTIVATED PC/Laptop, until its not. But it is always tied to the same performance account.
But looking at the Par2Pro vids for FSX2018, I noticed you can have 8 Player profiles with all their saved data online, that is registered to one performance account.

I wonder why 8? If you was coaching and had a lot of students you would want a lot more.

It’s odd how Foresight seems to give different info to people all the time. I have an email from a foresight rep saying I can get a dongle version of FSX 2018

Is the going rate for a used version of FR1 more than the $1500 trade in I would get from Foresight?

I have seen FR1 sell here for $600-$800 with courses, so $1500 is a great trade-In. In UK its only £500 trade-in ($700).

Because I have FR1 I was able to get FSx for $1,500 and they didn't ask for my dongle back. I think it was overlooked by them being busy. They also told me last week I can get a dongle for FSX18 anytime, so pretty sure it is still an option. Having FSX on two systems, then deactivating/activating seems as simple as entering the product key. Shouldn’t be a problem. Just a couple extra steps.
