GC2 placement on indoor build (on turf)

since my home build is coming closer I have one detail question left: How do you guys place the GC2 on turf (and keep it aligned) the best way? I will have a setup with a CCE mat in the middle of the room, surrounded by turf in the same height as the CCE. So the GC would stand slightly outside the CCE mat on the turf. I am aware, that one could use the alignment stick holders on the protective case (and I might), but maybe there is a better way? Marking the turf won't be easy. Putting a "platform" in the turf possible, but not clear how to do it. Could also put one of those little lasers on the GC2......what do you guys do? Best. Max

That's what I did. I take my GC2 indoors when I'm not using it... so this means I can put it down "aligned" within about 2 seconds. My rails save me any guesswork - as it's always held in the same place!

It would solve the problem of taking the GC2 in and out of a sim room and not worrying about alignment... unless of course you take the position track to the range!

SOmeone had made one out of two rails and linear bearings. It was pretty slick.

Thanks. Why do you guys all seem to elevate the GC2 above the level of mat/ball? Is Is that recommended? Why? How much? (I could screw rails through the turf into the subfloor).

I put mine on a book because I was worried it would leave marks in the mat and never changed it.

First there is no reason to have he GC2 higher then your hitting mat. You can if you want but mine is level with the mat and picks up any ball from ground level to on a 3.25 inch tee.

In order to align it an easy way is to get a thin metal bar ( something like 1/8 inch thick) and attach it to your carpet aligned parallel to the edge of your CCE mat.and/or your target if they are not in the same direction. You then place the front edge of the GC2 feet against the metal strip and you are aligned perfectly.

You can either use a long strip of metal so you can move the GC2 after you get some wear in the hitting area or use a shorter strip and attach it with something you can easily remove, like screws, and move it when the wear becomes excessive.

That sounds practical. I was thinking about rotating the CCE mat to have increase its lifetime, but being able to move a bit forward and backward still makes sense. Thanks.

What is the forum guideline for testing the right alignment of the GC2? I was thinking about putting a ball along a straight aim stick or something like this? One could use a laser? (I will need a 1 foot offset to the right, but I assume that should not interfere with a straight alignment of the GC2 - which should be just 90 degree towards the hitting screen, right?

There is a Foresight Simulation setup tool which takes your particular layout into account. If you need a copy send me a PM with your email and I'll authorize access to a Google Drive file with the program.

The program has you measure various distances and screen dimensions. It is self explanatory once you run the program.
