  • Storing a GC2

What is the best way to store a GC2? Leave it plugged in and drain the battery once a month, pack it away and just let the battery drain? I will be moving in about 6-7 months and need to tear my sim area down and store it before building it back up at the new house and am just wondering the best way to keep the GC2 in good shape. Was thinking of getting a Pelican case to store it and my sim computer, but that may be over kill. Any help on the best way to keep the battery in good operating condition please let me know.

I read online that you should discharge NiCad batteries before storing them, so that is what I would do before packing it up. I think as long as you discharge it periodically while you are using it, it doesn't matter if you leave it plugged in or not.

What is the best way to discharge it without actually using it (don't want to use the flash).

I leave mine on overnight once a month. That doesn't use the flash.

Make sure the backlight is on to maximise power drain and make sure it isn't locked onto a ball (ie green).

If you really want no flash running then activate the system menu. That's the only time the IR flash stops.

Good to know, I didn’t realize that.

Thanks Andy, i discharge it completely at the end of each month, but wasn't sure if I needed to keep that pattern and periodically take it out of storage to charge then discharge or what, so I'll just discharge them and pack it up. I appreciate the help.
