    Dear Members,

gc2 is back from foresight and all fixed....had a flash board issue.....it’s connected up to a new pc with a 1070 8gb. I’m set to go, but was wondering how people use it to practice and for game improvement. A very general question I know, but wanted to know how people use it specifically to get better.

    cheers

That's a great question and I'd love to hear what other say as well.

For me, I always start warming up with my Orange Whip, then start the Foresight range (or real range outside) with left arm hits. I release with my right just before impact and when the ball flies like it is supposed to with both hands, I will start using my right arm, not until then! I fell like it reminds my body how to move properly.

I will then shape some shots on the range in different ways.

The Foresight Skills Challenge is fantastic and I use it often. I hope to score well on it someday, but right now I can't seem to get past 35 and that's a good score for me. Seems that either my wedges or my longer irons are working but rarely both at the same time. That #2 shot over the glass has really come in handy a few times on the course... Flop it up and stop at 20 yards... it's golden!!!

I also have made a few custom skills challenges, but wish it worked a little better to do that, like copying and modifying the Main Skills Challenge. I have one set up for wedges only from 10-120 yards and will vary the number of shots from 3-5 depending on how much I want to work. I also have one that Cameron Mccormick does with Jordan Spieth-- I think it goes 5 shots each of 50, then 40 then 60 yards. Goal is to land within 2+/- yards on each target all 5 times for each one. Goal is landing, not stopping so your score doesn't matter.

I will also do this on the range when just practicing.

I also love the Closest to the Pin challenges as it makes you groove your direction with one club until you have it.

I am not really one to play a full simulated round as I feel I get more out of my practice sessions.

Using these methods, along with my own video and practice I've dropped from a 11-12 hcp to a 9.5 in just a couple months of this and will keep dropping. I also sometimes set up practice putting sessions either on a hole or the range to dial in consistency, but I have no need for the extra putting detail offered.

    Hope that helps!

      That in FSX

Ah..... thanks !! I thought that might be it, but I was hopping for a less expensive option !

FR1 has a similar range, it is a cheaper option.

Thanks Baller, that’s exactly the type of feedback I was looking for. How do you set your GC2 up so it’s accurate for putting?

Sorry, I guess all the above is relevant except the putting part... I have GcQuad and I have no idea how the putting works on a GC2.

Although, regardless... once you get it set up, I would set the range or hole at different angles and different breaks and practice that distance getting it into the cup as consistently as I can. I would practice 5,10,15 and 20 feet.

I just use the FSX range. I have a GCQuad so in addition to the ball flight, I really focus on the club path. I keep it in one-dot mode since I am really focusing on the path and angle of attack. I am currently taking lessons, to get more consistent and hopefully reduce my handicap more (currently a 6). I know what the numbers should be when I do the new swing correctly - specifically not too in to out and a downward strike (irons). So I really focus on that. The ball data and flight is, of course, useful, but it can lie sometimes - i.e. if I came too much in to out, but flipped my hands with good timing, the ball flight will be great. But, the club data would show an okay angle of attack.

I don't hit driver much since it is too loud (I have young kids), but when I do, also focus on the path.

I haven't done the skills challenge, because I use the divot action mat, which has been great for my elbow (I had golfer's elbow last year), I find that distances are slightly off. For my full swing which I described above, I don't care, since I am focused on the path, but for wedges, distance control is paramount and I didn't want to dial in wrong numbers.

I have a steeper than average angle of attack, so I had trouble finding a mat that worked for me. I did use the divot action for a while and that did help, but currently using Fiberbuilt. That works great as well, but it reeaaally penalizes you if you are too steep, whereas I would not be penalized like that while playing. I’ve recently changed my wedge swing to not be so steep because those hurt the most digging 3” deep holes in the ground.

Baller - did you find that the distances were less with the Divot Action. I definitely notice that, but not sure if it is the mat or the "inside" swing.

When I used the Divot-action, it was on the Protee, and I didn’t notice any difference.
Working...
