  • GC2 Flash Driver Board Repair

Thanks to the generosity of one of the forum members who donated his spare flash driver board, I can now offer flash driver board repair/exchange. The flash driver board is separate from the consumable flash and is located inside the GC2. It is basically a giant capacitor that gets charged up and a switch that connects the capacitor to the flash to make it go off. Over time, the switch (which is really a large transistor) wears out. When this happens, your flash may only fire on some shots, and you may start getting a lot of no reads even though you have a relatively new flash. Eventually, it will completely stop working even though there is nothing wrong with the flash. Foresight used to sell the flash driver boards and let you swap them out yourself, but they have stopped doing that and now require you to send in your GC2. I have heard it is $100 for them to fix it as long as you are a registered customer (plus $55 for them to ship it back to you).

    So I'm offering two options:
    1. You mail me your entire GC2. I will open it up and swap out the flash driver board with a working one for you and mail it back to you. This will cost $100 including return shipping.
    2. You open your GC2, remove the flash driver board and send it to me. When I get it, I will ship you a working one the next day and keep yours to repair. I will then repair yours and swap it with the next person who needs one. This will let me have a fast turnaround while repairing them at a convenient time. It takes about 30 minutes total to remove and replace the flash driver, and you will need a screwdriver and allen wrench. I can provide detailed instructions for doing this. This will cost $75 including return shipping, and save you some money on shipping it to me.

Feel free to comment below if you have any questions since other people may have the same ones. Or you can PM me if you would prefer. Please send me a message before sending money to gc2flash@gmail.com so I can make sure I have a working one when yours arrives.
