  • Question for early adopters of GCQuad

Hello All, First let me say I am very new to this community and do not know much about launch monitors and simulators so I figured this would be the perfect place to get information from passionate and knowledgeable people.

I got the final approval from the wife and I am ready to purchase a GCQuad or at least I thought I was.... I was just about ready to pull the trigger when I started doing some more in depth googling and have read that many people are still having issues with the system. I have also ready that a few people with "inside" knowledge were told by Foresight that they should not buy the GCQuad for at least another 1-2 years until they figure out and fix all the design flaws. Basically that the unit itself will be different in a couple years.

Did I just go too far down the rabbit hole or are there legitimate concerns? If I am going to spend over $15k on this thing I want it to work pretty damn close to perfect.

What are experiences people have had thus far? Any recurring problems that simply have not been fixed? I am primarily concerned with hardware issues that can not be fixed via firmware updates. I am kind of bummed out as I am dying on upgrading from my Skytrak and was really looking forward to using the GCQuad.

    Thank you in advance.

    -GG

I have GCQuad and had no issues at all and having the time of my life getting some golf in when weather is bad or I don’t have the additional time to play real golf... As Rocky said “go for it”

No issues. Have had the GCQuad for nearly a year now and absolutely no issues. It is fantastic. The "HMT" feature is critical since the ball trajectory doesn't tell the whole story. I have posted in another thread, I used to think my slice came from an out-in path but realized most of the time it was in-out with an open clubface. It has worked flawlessly - I have a simulator setup, but put the Quad away after practice, since I have little kids who play in the simulator area when I am not hitting balls. Setup time is minimal - no calibration needed. At least 1/week, while I practice, I grin like a little kid at my wife and say "This was the best purchase ever". I have shot my 2 best scores ever in the past month, as my game has improved because I am able to practice a lot.

I remember even before I bought it, I saw some of the issues mentioned in this forum, but I think it was for 1-2 very early folks.

A few months ago, I went to an indoor simulator facility, I used to frequent before my GCQuad purchase. They have GC2s and I remember it being fine before. But now that I got used to my GCQuad, I started finding the flash of the GC2 to be annoying :-/

only thing to be aware of is that the Quad connectivity is locked down by foresight in terms of what Sim options are available, with the Quad i believe you can only use the Foresight FSX software, whereas with the GC2 you can use FSX but also have TGC and JNPG as options to you.

It is only ball data though. HMT data would be extra. So I am not sure if it is a good deal. You are getting some extra courses, but if you are just going to use it for practice, it might not be worth it.

That’s still a great deal. Full unit with FSX and club data new is $18k

I see. How much is the addition of HMT data these days? I guess that last year's prices were different because it was before FSX 2018 launched.

Pretty sure you heard wrong. My quad rocks. I do wish I could use outside software with it along with FSX, but that would just be a bonus.

I've had my unit 18 months and no problems with it. The FSX software could be better though and I was disappointed they charged for the 2018 upgrade.

What do you think is lacking in the software? What would you like to see done better?
