Hi Guys - I’be built a custom wood case for my GC2 and am installing a plexiglass shield over the cameras. I want to cut holes to allow the cameras to function properly, but obviously want the holes as small as possible. Does anyone know what the purpose of each camera is? Possibly what field of view they require? Thanks in advance for your help.

Both cameras take pictures of the ball before and during the shot. It needs two to calculate the ball's position in 3 dimensions. As an approximation, you can look at the angle of the cone that the plastic around the camera on the GC2 makes. You really just need the hole to be slightly smaller than a golf ball so that it cannot touch the GC2 when it is in position.
On a side note, acrylic is commonly called plexiglass, whereas polycarbonate's common name is lexan. Lexan is more impact resistance and less likely to crack, but it is also more expensive. I'm not sure how hard you could really it it with a toe-shank but if you can find some Lexan that would work better. Either way that you go, you will want the hole cuts to be as smooth as possible. Any rough spots will concentrate the stress and be the point where a crack will start under impact. You can flame polish acrylic, but polycarbonate has to be mechanically polished. You can also get acrylic laser cut by several online vendors and the laser will polish the edges with the heat that is generated during the cut. I have used Ponoko quite a bit and they do a nice job but only offer acrylic.Comment

Awesome Andy. I was anticipating your reply! Greatly appreciate your input on this forum. I put the holes shifted to the left to give more field of view from my right handed shots. So far so good. Guess those 2 cameras are what they mean by Stereoscopic.Comment
