  • New GC2

I'm looking at getting a used GC2 and was wondering what my software options were? I have a good PC with a nice graphics card that I can use.

How does the GC2 connect to the PC and what is the cheapest software options to make it function. I don't need 1,000 courses. Just a few courses with a range.

With the GC2 you have some great options. Obviously there is TGC which has a ton of courses. Local multiplayer is a bit limited as well as the ability to use different tees for players of different abilities. There is a tour that allows competition against others all over the world.

Another option with GC2 is JNPG which has an online tour as well. There are a couple hundred courses and you can have up to 8 players locally at one time. There are daily scrambles and other events as well if you sign up for that feature. One benefit is that you can have each player from a different tee to accommodate different skill levels.

TGC can be purchased for $1000 for a lifetime license. JNPG is $250/year.

JNPG $290 per year if you want to play the tour.

People play a scramble in a simulator? I would never even have thought of doing that. Why do you play a scramble?

Mthunt, I am not a big fan of scrambles in real life. However, 2 man vs 2 man is pretty fun on sim. Especially with skins where the team that’s behind has a chance to catch up near the end as the holes become worth more. Not sure why it’s so much fun on sim but it would be an awesome addition to TGc2019.

I like to play scramble events when we have couples over, or want to complete as teams. It is one of the best ways to get people that are non-golfers (ie. spouses, or significant others) involved in the game and makes it more enjoyable for all involved. No different than charity or other types of outdoor scramble events.

I agree with the scramble comments as well. It's the primary reason I use FSX over TGC. I like playing TGC by myself or one other person, but as soon as I get a larger group we always play 2 or 3 man scrambles. It allows the high handicap players to not feel 'embarrassed' by not having to play 2 or 3 shots in a row like they would in stroke play. I really wish TGC would add a scramble mode.

That would be a great change up for something different.

scrambles would be fun. The game could automatically choose the closest ball if lies are equal. If lies are not equal, you could either choose better lie or closest. Before hitting, the players would need the ability to override the shot picked by the game.

I would love to see 2 man scrambles more than anything, the best way to play when friends or wives come over. They go faster and are lots of fun, especially
with friends who don't have the sim short game down
