Used GC2, can I use the existing FCX 2018 or will I have to purchase new software?

Hello everybody,

I won a GC2 yesterday on ebay for 3.5k. I was considering buying refurbished direct from foresight however they were quoting 4.5k and they do not have any currently.

I have messaged the seller and I have a few questions/concerns.

Firstly he said that he would transfer me to be the user at no charge. I informed him I have been told there is a fee from foresight to do this. He said he has spoken to 'somebody' and if there was a charge he would cover it. I am not sure that he knows it is a £500 fee?? I presume there is no way he would be able to do this without a charge?

Also he has told me he has the FSX 2018 software which is included in the sale. How can the software be transferred or used by me? I heard a dongle but then also heard they do not use dongles anymore? Can the software be used on multiple PC's or just one and is it possible to transfer from one PC to another?

Would be great to get some advice before I finalise and pay!

I’ve heard some instances transfer happened without a fee. But it’s up to Foresight and sales.

fsx has either dongle or online version. I’m assuming he will give out his login id or simply transfer that to your account too.

My advice to you is to call Foresight and explain everything that is happening to them and make sure they are aware of the plan. They should also be able to verify that the person you are buying from is legit and tell you exactly what needs to happen so you are not unhappy when it's said and done. If the seller has nothing to hide then arranging this all through Foresight should not be a problem. Others on here may disagree with me but I would personally feel better making Foresight aware in advance of the transfers. That said you might want to tell the seller of you plans to coordinate everything with Foresight and see if the seller has any objections. If he does not then I would start feeling better about it... if he does I would start asking questions why. Just my 2 cents.

UPDATE!

My suspicions were in fact correct. Ebay emailed to say the listers account had been compromised and they cancelled the listing.

I just sold my GC2 yesterday. If you find one you want to get the original software (FR1) with it if you can. Then you can upgrade to FSX for $1750. That's why I didn't list my GC2 on ebay. This forum is a better place to do deals. I sold the GC2 and bought an Xi+ here in a matter of 2 days. Great community.
