  • Curious New GC2 total cost

Currently using a Skytrak and enjoy it alot but there a few benefits to get a GC2 that I see and would consider upgrading. What I am not sure on is total pricing including software. I know a new GC2 goes for $6500.00. But I have a few questions.

    1) Do I have to buy the FXS software? If so is there also a yearly subscription?

    2) If I own TGC for Skytrak can I use it with GC2 or will I be required to purchase another TGC licence. If I do have to purchase another licence how much is the licence for TGC to work with GC2?

I upgraded from ST to GC2. There is no charge to move TGC to GC2. You do not need FSX unless you need and advanced driving range. FSX does not have an annual subscription. It is a one time cost. I bought a reconditioned GC2 from Foresight for less than 6500.

So basically if I buy a refurbished gc2 and have no desire for a driving range. I can just transfer my TGC licence to gc2 and be up and running?

Reason I am considering is it seems gc2 is alot easier to align and you have a much larger hitting zone and the ability to add the additional cameras to track club data down the road.

6500 new but if you don't have fsx you have to buy it so your looking at 9k ish. You can buy somebody's used and abused gc2 refurbished for $5400 without software from foresight. New battery calibrated 6 month warranty yadayadayada. You can generally find a used one on the forum for 4500 ish not refurbished without warranty but depending on location you won't be able to test it or see it. At least that's what ive seen.

You don't need fax for a gc2. Just an option you have.

If you plan on buying through Foresight, I would haggle with them if I were you. On black Friday they had a brand new GC2, HMT, FSX 2018, and GC2 plastic shield for $10k. They have also had a deal for a refurb GC2, refurb HMT, FSX 2018, and a laptop for $10k in the past. You know they aren't losing money at those prices, so there should be some wiggle room off of their MSRP.

As far as buying a used one, keep in mind that if you have to send it in for repairs you will be hit with a $500 registration fee. It isn't too likely but it does happen. Getting one through the forum should be reasonably safe. I probalby wouldn't buy one if someone created an account only to sell one, but if they have been around a while that's reassuring. Make sure you pay through Paypal as goods and services or use an escrow service so you are protected. Ask for pictures with some feature like a news heading in the background to show they have it right now.

Ebay is more hit or miss. You can get lower prices sometimes ($3500-4k range). Again, as long as you pay though ebay you are protected. Just don't fall for anyone who has a listing with their email address saying contact me before bidding to buy it now for $2k. They will request a wire transfer or some other non-refundable payment and you will never see that money or a GC2 again.

Is the $500 registration fee the same thing sometimes referred to as the API fee? Does this fee only need to be paid if you need repairs? For some reason I thought you needed to pay Foresight that fee in order to get your newly purchased second hand GC2 to properly work.

Not sure what the API fee is, I haven't heard of that one.

You do not NEED to pay them the $500 registration fee. You are correct, you only need to pay it if you need repairs. I got mine free when I purchased FSX. (Free being a relative term!)

It’s a transfer of ownership fee for when you need to repair your GC2 by Foresight. But you don’t need to pay it to use the GC2. I bought a used GC2 and used it with TGC and never paid the $500 registration fee.

Thank you. Can you use FSX (any version) without paying the fee?

If you buy FSX from them they might add your GC2 under your customer account so you would not have to pay the fee for repairs. If you buy FSX through someone else it should still work without paying the fee. I have heard the api fee term is made up. You don’t get any sort of api for using it with other hardware

If you WANT to buy FSX, you could negotiate with them to waive the transfer fee. They are good about things like that
