    FSX2018 Questions

    Hi All

I have looked through many threads, and have not seen an answer to these questions, so my apologies if I missed them anywhere. Neither issue / question appears to be addressed in the post asking for enhancements / bug fixes that Foresight are apparently monitoring, so I thought I'd ask as I am unaware of how to do either of these:

    1) Green Aim Point
As far as I can can tell, there is no aim point on the green. The aim point is there for all shots prior to the green and is obviously too large for on the green, but is there an option to turn on something that shows where you are aimed? Once you have cursored right or left, it's impossible to know. If there is something similar to the one on TGC, it would be great.

    2) Practice Putting
Do people have a solution for warm-up / demo / practice putting? At the moment, the only option I have found is to launch a course and pick a short Par3 and then play to the green and keep rewinding shots. Not ideal. When new players come over, it would be great to have an option to allow them to practice chips and putting. Does that exist anywhere? (For example, is there anything similar to mthunt range on TGC developed by Foresight)?

If neither of these exist, I'll add them to the bug fix / enhancements post.

    Thanks in advance

    #1 - I'm wondering the same thing...someone help!
#2 - go to the range and right click (on the minimap) on or around the green and you'll be putting/chipping.

roacher24 - re #2 - awesome - thank you. It's pretty obvious now that you say it, but I did not realise.

Did not know there was a green aim point. Is that something similar to the aiming pole, that's what I see/have.

I agree 200% with #2 if I move either direction I have know way of determining just how far I'm aimed a way from the hole. TGC is much better with this.

Nope, that's the problem. There is no green aim point that I can figure out. Just the aiming pole for all shots before the green. It sounds like this is maybe something for the "enhancements" request post.... I'll give it until tomorrow for a genius on the forum to tell us what we're missing and then if there's nothing I'll add a note to that post

No aim point... i looked for that before as well.

For putting you can gontonth range or pick any course green you want to put and go into practice mode. You wont need to rewind that way. It works just like youre on the range with the shot at hand. I dont rememner if thee is a button or if you just hit the P key or both may work. I do this often and then you can click on the mini map to move yourself around or closer or further and continue your practice.

Did the practice thing on the green tonight for the first time. FSX really does have a lot of nice features. Aim point while putting would be nice !!

I really don't see the need for an aim point when putting but it is certainly a reasonable option to request. Do you have a an aim point in real life? You can just use a point on the grid, it works quite well and is more realistic. Now, I rarely change the aim direction and simply putt at the needed angle. You have to remember when putting that your ball is actually on the screen so you have to mentally mirror you position when determining the needed angle.

For example: If I have a left to right putt that has about a square of break. I simply aim one square left. I'm 15' from the screen so the difference is negligible in most cases but if you are closer you'll have to try and determine the needed angle and putt to from your hitting location. With a little practice you can figure it out and start putting quite well within FSX.

That's a fair comment and approach. In real life I know where I am aiming because nothing is moving. In the sim, if I move the cursor a few clicks one way or another, it's then impossible to know how far you've moved it. Part of the reason I like aligning the putt rather than aiming my putt to one side or the other is the lines I have in the room (hitting mat etc). You are right, they too do not exist IRL, but it's a good training aid. I just find that the aiming in TGC putting is good and works well for me, but your approach is worth a try.... I'll try it next time

mmlincon..... I'm going to give your method a try next time. You are correct, there is no "aim point" in real life Golf. Maybe I just got spoiled by TGC.
