iPad app distance

Hi All,

I’m getting back to GC2 after a while and downloaded their latest “Performance fitting” app for iPad. It seems as a good upgrade on the old one but I’m puzzled by what is displayed as “Range” distance.

It used to be Carry and Total but now it’s Carry and Range and Range is either equal or a bit less than Carry (even with a driver).

While Carry is the important number I do want to understand what Range is supposed to mean. Even more confusing that when the session is uploaded to their website the Range distance does become Total and is still under Carry.

Confirmed by Foresight before, Range was supposed to be a distance as if you were using a range ball. But they dropped further development. So don’t look at that parameter. If you want to see Total distance you have to use the new FSX app which you will need FSX2018 license.

Range distance means "projected distance on the target line".
The more deviation you have, the more range distance is shorter than carry distance.
It's like the virtual 'distance board' you would hit on a driving range.

Are most using FSX nowadays? Other advantages compared to the free up (apart from visualisations of shots and “gamification”

Don’t have FSX. I mostly use TGC for both training and playing.

I still like Performance App better. What sucks about FSX app is that it doesn't store data locally. You will have to go to the website to find data and website data is not so user friendly. Performance App is not any better but at least you can always go back and see old data.
