    FSX using RTX cards?

Hi - I recently purchased a GCQ after a good few months of research on various launch monitor and sim software options. So much great info here, so thank you all for the help!

I’m now looking to buy a PC to run FSX and I’ve seen the minimum spec GPU of a GTX1050Ti or 1060 and preferred GTX1080, but does anyone here use the newer RTX cards? Do they run everything well given different architecture?

I expect you wouldn’t get the full benefit of the RTX cards using FSX, but at the same time I don’t mind future proofing a bit. That said, I don’t think I’ll be running a 4K projector (at least not initially), so I know I could spec the GPU a lot lower.

So, any insights on the RTX cards would be appreciated!

No benefit at this time. Foresight is not recommending them but I think that is more because of the added cost with no benefit. If you will be using it for games then why not? I don't think FSX will be using ray tracing anytime soon or possibly ever. If you are not running 4K you should be fine with a 1060. You could get a 1070 for some breathing room.

Thanks! The bit around FS not recommending the RTX is what had me concerned as I wasn’t sure if that was a functionality/compatibility issue. Sounds like more of a value issue. PCs and GPUs etc are not my expertise, so I’ve contacted them, but was also hoping to hear from an RTX user.

There is also this new GTX1660Ti which seems like a RTX that’s been scaled back to 1070 performance. Might be a decent option.
